Whats your first impression of your new Moto X!?

Loving it! Wish migrate had done all of my google play apps too, but no complaints. Phone is buttery smooth and flies. No lag whatsoever.

Actually, I'm 17 and my dad is upgrading from an iPhone 5. He wants a small phone, with the blackberry q10 being his perfect size. He is do for an upgrade and doesn't need a fast phone. What color, storage, and price is it? He would get that off contract and I would buy him an on contract iPhone 6 for resale like I did for myself. I'm better at this stuff lol. Please let me know. Get mine tomorrow. Anyone returned it or thinking that way? I seem to have lost interest in this device. Maybe once I open it, I will feel differently. Played with the Note 4 today and wow! A Note 4 and iPhone 6+ would be the big phone duo to have!

I noticed today while taking a lot of pictures that it is much more difficult to get the camera to come on with the wrist twist than it was in the original moto x. Disappointing.

It's the same for me. No difference at all and still a heck of a fine feature.

I finally saw two in person yesterday while riding the blue line here in Chicago. It's definitely a big phone--a bit too much for me. I was really drawn in by the screen, though. Like the 2013 Moto X, the screen looked shockingly enormous considering the size of the phone's body.

Still not sure if I really want to let go of my 2013 Moto X, though.

I can relate. I'm totally in love with my new purple 2014 Moto X, but I haven't yet been able to part with my 2013 navy blue beauty. I know I should sell it but I need more time before I can let it go.

Very disappointed with the signal performance. In low signal areas I can't call out.. My s5 sitting side by side makes the call every time.. The new Moto x will not.. I was really hoping this phone would better better than my s5 I loved the touchless control and all the other innovative features.

The camera compared to the s5 was a bust. In all other areas except screen brightness it compared well.. It's going back to Moto.

Signal performance with mine is fantastic. Call quality is awesome too. No complaints at all.

Signal strength with my gen 2 seems to be just a little better than the OG X. Of course, this is anecdotal but, nonetheless, it seems real based on my observations. Nothing earth shattering but better is always...better. And the OG X was already quite good, IMHO.

I upgraded from a Galaxy S4 and don't regret it one bit. The S4 was a fabulous phone for me but this is just so smooth. I was skeptical about the "moto" features and all it entailed but even after playing with it for an hour, it was easy and seamless. The whole "set it up at home to read texts and phone calls" is BRILLIANT. I was having a text conversation with a friend while I cleaned and prepped dinner and never had to touch the phone. That's REALLY convenient when your hands are covered in raw chicken. XD

As for speed, holy beejeebus! The S4 was fast but this thing FLIES. It's so much faster that sometimes I think it does what I want it to do before I even do it. I can't find any lag at all. Signal strength is phenomenal. It has better range than my S4 did especially in the WiFi department. Battery life is amazing. I went 17 hours yesterday with me showing it off and CONSTANTLY playing with it and still had 29% battery. The camera works well for me. I haven't noticed any focus problems. My pictures are clear and pretty. If I had ANY complaint at all, and it's a small one, would be the front speaker.

Now before anyone panics, the "complaint" is silly. First off, I jumped for JOY when I realized the design engineers FINALLY understood that people face the SCREEN so the sound should go that direction too, not to the back where it has to be bounced off your hand or other device. The speaker is CLEAR and LOUD.......and that's the problem. You can easily tell there is only one speaker and my head tries to turn to face it better. That is my ONLY gripe, that it only has one forward facing speaker. (Yes, I know about the HTC, nice phone but not the one for me.)

Overall, this phone is everything I wanted and then some. I love the bamboo back and the slight curve fits my hand perfectly. Even sweaty it has a good feel and doesn't slip. (bigger contact patch) I love mine but that's just my opinion.......and we all know how opinions are. ;)

Well said I like the post! I look forward to getting mine!

Folks, just received my Moto X yesterday. I'm switching from Nexus 5 and I see huge difference between two screens. The new screen seems to make a difference for battery though. I played with X for about 3-4 hours yesterday and still had about 18% battery. Nexus 5 wouldn't come close.

What's the technical reason for such different white color and battery life improvement?

Get mine tomorrow. Anyone returned it or thinking that way? I seem to have lost interest in this device. Maybe once I open it, I will feel differently. Played with the Note 4 today and wow! A Note 4 and iPhone 6+ would be the big phone duo to have!

You have been through so may phones recently! When my boyfriend thinks I have a phone addiction I show him your posts ;)

AMOLED screens only light up the portion of the screen being used, so when part of the screen is black (for active notifications for example) that part isn't being lit up at all.

Yes I know, I hear it all the time. I am just picky and am always looking for exactly what I want and you only know once you try them. The Nexus 5 is the longest device I have currently held. I will keep it because L is coming. The next would be the OG Moto X which I wanted at lest a 5 inch screen, 1080 p screen and better camera! So far the Moto X 2 is filling that bill but need to put it through about a week of usage! I use phone depending on what I am doing etc, like weekends vs work and deep pockets of slacks vs shorts etc.

I almost traded mine back in for a space grey iPhone 5S on yesterday. But, since I'd already returned an M8 for this X they told me that to have any chance to return it I needed to go to the store that I purchased it from. Having to use it on this weekend trip to NY has shown me that this will be a great device to use for the next 2 years!! Camera has exceeded my expectations and, for my usage patterns, battery life is Awesome sauce!!

Got mine today. First impressions are positive. Very nice display. Blazing fast. Thinner then I thought it would be. Screen is big but I expect it to shrink overtime as I get used to it. Love the bamboo back and black front.

Too soon to comment on battery or camera.

This phone flies.

So far I'm loving mine, it's only been a day and a half since I started using it. I'm loving the black front with bamboo back and the metallic green accents. Attached are my first days battery life. Mixed wifi and LTE, 15 minutes if navigation (screen off while in navigation) and a 20 minute video chat

I have never used Android, and I've got about a billion things to learn, but so far, this has been really easy. I can't wait to learn about all of the nooks and crannies, but for now, my phone is set up, and I'm navigating it well. I need to get used to some of the Moto features (after it kept reading me my text messages received at home, I got tired of it and turned that off- I prefer to just read and text), and some of the widgets and apps for Android, but I am LOVING the screen, and the UI. The camera, after I figured out the aspect ratio thing, has been fine. Battery life has been great, but I get the shakes when it drops below 50%... Overall, I'm very happy with this experience!:D

Received my Pure Edition yesterday. Out of the box first touch and feel reaction was wow, just wow! The feel is really nice, the build gives it a very solid feel. The metal band around the edge is a true work of art. This thing feels great in hand, the edge is thin and the curved back let's you know it's there when holding it. The curved back makes it easy to pick up since the edge of the phone is elevated slightly from the surface while laying down. First boot up is fast and the Motorola boot animation is fun to watch, they also change the animation at various times of the year. I spent several hours setting it up (installing apps, adding email accounts and adjusting settings to my liking). The software UI is fast and fluid, apps load quickly and all my customary apps worked without issue. I noticed signal reception (cellular and wifi) to be slightly better than the iPhone 5 I had been using recently and much better than the G3 that I also have. Volume from the speaker is real good, clear and loud. Call quality has also been great so far. I paired it to a Motorola Boom headset and it works great, a tap of the headset call button activates Moto Voice commands. The active display is a feature no phone should be without. I've also installed a screen/power off app, so now I can unlock the phone with active display and tap the screen off app to sleep the phone. Haven't touched the power sleep/wake button since first boot. Tried quite a few camera shots, both with the stock camera and the Google camera app and am satisfied with the results, image quality was good. It's too soon for me to gauge battery life. It seems to be very efficient with power use. Given the battery capacity it has, I expect to easily get through my day. I charge my phones every night so getting through the day is all I need. Overall I'm very happy with the phone. It's fast, works without any hiccups, the core functions perform flawlessly, all my apps work on it just fine, it has the added benefit of an active display (which is great by the way) and did I mention it's fast....
