Whats your first impression of your new Moto X!?

I have the 6 and love it. It is keeping me from buying the moto x until I read user reviews. I have a lot of concern about the moto x battery.

Wow, black with the bamboo back looks sharp! Every time I tried the bamboo back in Moto Maker I always ended up with a white front because I felt it had better symmetry with the light color of the bamboo. These pics however have changed my mind, and I think they're both good. Very nice, thanks for sharing.

+1 I too have thought the same about the bamboo back, but those pictures has proved me wrong. Although, blue accents may not be my thing... I'll have to see how that setup will work with other accent colors

I have same setup, black front bamboo back, only difference is dark gray trim.
And another difference is, I don't have mine yet :-(

Hi Guys,

Got my phone ON Friday and loving it so far.
But the LCD to AMOLED transition is really bothering me. The whites on my Moto X are very yellowish and non-white compared to my Nexus 4. I've attached a picture. It'll be really great if someone could tell me if the difference in color is normal or its a manufacturing defect so I can RMA my device. Both devices are on Auto brightness. Thanks.

That is about normal, this is the trade off of having deep blacks. I used to prefer LCD but amoled had grown on me . I like the over saturation.

Previous phone: Nexus 5
New: Pure edition on T-Mobile( natural leather, blue trim, black front)
Con: screen touch response is not as fast as Nexus 5
Bright sunlight viewing about the same, which is not good, but useable
Pro: Loud speaker works very well
Microphones seem to work better
Cellular reception is better, WiFi seems better too
Screen contrast is good.
IR sensor response and software work well
Moto Assist is useful for me
Phone call quality is not determined yet, but attempted conversations with noisy background don't result in my wife hanging up on me, like she did with the Nexus 5.

I got the leather because it is unique, and I figure if leather shoes and motorcycle suits last years, a phone should last longer. I anticipate the natural leather to get darker with finger print oil. Since I exercise with the phone, I was thinking of oiling the leather, but I haven't found any leather care info for the phone. My only concern is treating the leather with an oil that is not compatible with the glue Motorola must use to bond the leather to the phone back.

UPDATE: The touch screen lag is not noticeable after I stopped using Nova Launcher and went back to the stock Google Now Launcher.
Con: WiFi handoff to cellular is not seemless. The phone stays connected to a weak WiFi signal to long, and I have the WiFi advance option 'avoid poor connections' selected.

The white on mine look fine, it shouldn't be too yellow. You should RMA it if it bother you.

If that is 'normal' difference between the 2 phones, almost no point in him to RMA it as the next one will be the same. Then the frustration begins...

My display isn't yellow... Super bright. Restart your phone is the moto x startup background yellow. Mine could land a plane...not yellow.

I had all the intentions of picking one up full retail at AT&T today. The camera is absolutely atrocious. Every pic I took was blurry/fuzzy, like the post processing was off.

I was taking pics of my kids, the G3 was phenomenal and the iPhone was as well.

Guys, thanks for inputs. The whites do get better if the screen is tilted a bit but at a normal viewing angle, they look yellowish.

I am aware that the whites are warmer on Amoled screens, i am just wondering if this is an extreme level (defect) or an acceptable level.

I compared the Note 2 screen and that too looked more white even though it's the same technology. Hence the dilemma.

Woah. =O That's interesting. Why do you suppose that is? And how much slower is the new Moto X compared to the Nexus 5?

It usually is barely perceptible, but enough to annoy me. I always tinkered with the Nexus 5 to get the smoothest scrolling, responsive UI. This probably makes me overly sensitive to the Motorola scrolling/screen touch response time, and, unfortunately, I notice it. It is probably a software/firmware thing that can be improved.
