What's your guess for the price of the Google Nexus Tab?

$200 has been the long rumored price point and i don't see a reason to argue with it. NVIDIA's announced Kai Platform is projected to be at $200 i don't see why the Nexus tablet would go much higher then that.

On a side note, $200 for a quad core is a MUCH better deal then i paid for my Galaxy Tab lol

Although they're just rumors for now, from everything I've read online thus far suggests the Nexus tablet will be in the range of $200-250. Personally, I'm thinking $200 at the lowest. Even the Kindle Fire is $200 (unless it's received a price drop) and that thing is heavily underpowered compared to this tablet (from the what the rumors say). I really don't want to see anything under $200 as I'm afraid we'll start losing some of the really cool features that were present in the MeMo 370T from CES. If it's $200 and has pretty much everything from the MeMo, I'll be very interested. Pure Google a la the Galaxy Nexus and perhaps a slightly thinner shell wouldn't hurt. ;)

I see Google releasing it at the $200 price point. Isn't this the MeMo 370T rebadged anyway? The only difference I see is the probability of it having Jelly Bean as the OS.

I want a tablet to read comic books on, so I don't need something crazy powerful, but I'd like something with a bit of oomph, something quality, and a google tablet would probably convince me. I'd like to see 200 or 250, but I'll probably pick it up for anything under 300, provided it isn't a piece. Over 300, I'll be waiting for a price drop/next generation.

Not necessarily. Everyone's guessing it might be a rebranded MeMo because the 370T was built by ASUS which is the same company Google has partnered with to make its first tablet. Then, the 370T was "suddenly" scrapped by ASUS so some are guessing this is because Google wants to rebrand it as their own. But there's no conclusive evidence that the final hardware is going to be a Google MeMo tablet. It very well could be something different altogether. In my opinion, chances are the final design *might* be something akin to the MeMo. We'll just have to wait and see...

That's a great point. :)

Given the length of time between CES and the Google I/O it's entirely possible the Nexus Tab will have changed from the original 370T. I know a lot of people fear the Nexus Tab will be "de-contented" to lower the price but I'm hopeful Google will be able to offer a great tablet at a great price because they don't have to factor in any profit for the retailer.

I'm also betting that Google will be aggressive with pricing because they want to establish Google Play as a marketplace for tablets and phones. This will be especially important if the rumors about the next Nexus phone prove to be true and there will be several phones from different OEMs that can be activated on various carriers.

I'm thinking it's going to go for $250. Slightly over the Kindle Fire and right on par with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0.

If this is the MeMo 370T I am hoping that Google either keeps the same stats or even ups the game a little. If they bring out a killer 7 incher and include their next OS this will be a real game changer. I look forward to the Google I/O to see what they have up their sleeves.

The smart money seems to be on $199.99, however I think they should buy some (more) market share from Apple and Amazon. I'd price it between $149.95 and $179.99. It's it's a quad core unit with great graphics, they'll sell a ton of them. Even if it cost them $1B, it might be worth it in the long run to spread the Android experience and cut Apple down to size.

.

With the recent crap that Apple pulled by pulling Google Maps from iOS I would expect Google to go after Apple by providing a high end tablet at a significantly lower price.

Why is it crap? They saw an opportunity to use better software for their customers. They aren't making any money off of having their own maps app. In fact they have to pay for all of the data & services it will offer, not to mention the development.

So why is it crap?

storage is cheap. i dont understand the current pricing strategy. it works for the ipad but shouldnt be used for android.
instead they should make storage standard like they do with the galaxy nexus, and use processor or screen res to price it.

I totally agree.

The vast majority of Americans do not own a tablet and this is an ideal opportunity to lock new customers into the Android ecosystem.

That said, I imagine Apple already has their legal team preparing a "predatory pricing" lawsuit against Google as we speak. :)
