What's your opinion of wood backs on the Moto X 2013?

Re: moto x wood

I had the walnut also and thought it was awesome looking.

Re: moto x wood

I have an ebony wood back and it's great. Gives it a real premium look: Here

Not sure if I'm going to go wood this time around, mainly because I want to try something different. If I do go wood, I'm considering bamboo instead.

Re: moto x wood

Walnut as well with a black front panel. I would have done bamboo except I didn't want a white front panel. No regrets getting the wood back.

Not too slippery? That's my only real concern; would like ebony but could just go black...

Re: moto x wood

I think the bamboo was real wood, the other were not, but they were durable. I managed to burn a bit of my ebony back cover, but it has a plastic layer of protection on the outside which I used sand paper and it restored some of the look.

I'll probably get bamboo again this time, or ebony. IF it's $25, I won't waste $50, I rather get the cover from Toast instead in that case, but it does add thickness to the phone, however it's real wood, smell like wood and better quality than what Motorola use.

It's not too slippery like smooth plastic but you also can't feel the wood graining. If anything it is sort of a matte finish feel but more smooth than rough.

I read that bamboo is bamboo and the other finishes are wood but stained to look like whatever wood it is suppose to represent.

Wood rocks. I treat mine with the same stuff I use on my fretboards. Here's pics of mine in Walnut.
