WhatsApp Issue - Opens to backup settings and notification tone is enabled

I am having a weird issue on my Lenovo k8 note. Whenever I open WhatsApp, it opens at the backup settings where it has selected backup schedule to none and no account is selected. Also, once I get past this screen after selecting the values I want I notice when I start to chat, notification tone for chat are enabled. I then disable it from notification settings. And the whole cycle repeats when I visit WhatsApp app on my phone again at a later time. I did not install any app as that would be the first guess. Please help us anyone else facing the same issue.
