Question WhatsApp Registration Problem

Hello,

I used WhatsApp Plus (AlexMod) for about 4 years. 8 months ago, WhatsApp Inc. added a new rule and banned 3rd party WhatsApp usage in the user agreement. I started using Official WhatsApp (which I downloaded from Google Play Store) after that date.

My phone's (Xiaomi Poco F3 / Android 13) SIM card slot is broken. I reset it to factory settings before giving it to service. After returning from service, when I wanted to install the Official WhatsApp application (which I downloaded from Google Play Store) again, it started showing the warning "We do not support unofficial applications, install the official application." and I could not activate it with the SMS code.

I can register to WhatsApp from a different phone with the same number or I can register that number to WhatsApp by writing a different number to this phone. Only my GSM number is shown as banned on this phone and I cannot activate WhatsApp on my own phone.

How can I fix this problem?
Is there a way to restore the WhatsApp application from the different phone I activated with all its data to my own phone? With or without root. My priority is rootless, of course.

I request the help of experts in this field.

Welcome to Android Central forums. I'm not a WhatsApp expert, but it sounds like some remnant of the outlawed app is combining with the installation of the official app or your device and/or number are being identified as associated with the outlawed app. That's all complicated Junky talk for, I'm not really sure but it sounds weird.

Ordinarily we would probably suggest that you clear the cache or data for the app and/or uninstall and reinstall the app. Factory resetting should have cleared all of these things for you, so it isn't really clear why you're having this issue with a fresh install of everything.

If those things don't work you could try factory resetting again. Since it sounds like you've done this fairly recently it shouldn't be too painful. I know most people don't like to factory reset their devices.

If your number didn't work on another device or if other numbers didn't work on this device I would say that you were device or number banned by the platform. Since it is only when combined that you have issues, I'm stumped on this one. There are appeal processes for device and/or number bans. I guess if the above things don't help you could try an appeal but honestly the more I think about it the more it feels to me like some nugget of the outlawed app is surfacing when your device sees your number and WhatsApp is detecting that. Which then makes me feel even stronger that getting a clean start is going to be the ticket to fixing this.

Let me ask this, when you restored your device did you choose to auto restore your apps? This may have lead to restoring the outlawed app. Two things, verify that you only have one WhatsApp app in your app drawer, and verify that it is the official one. If you FR again choose to either select apps to restore and do not choose WA, or choose not to auto restore any apps, go to the Play Store and install this one individually.

Let us know what you find and how it goes.

I think it has to do with the bootloader being unlocked. I'll try turning it off when I have time.

I mean it could but that doesn't explain what you described. If it were the bootloader's state, it wouldn't work at all on that device. It wouldn't matter if it was your number or some other number it would just be a wrap. I mean I'm understanding you correctly, right?

Your number on your device = No go.
Your number on different device = OK
Your device with a different number =OK

Is this right?

How would it be the bootloader?

If it were the Device for whatever reason, I would expect the following.
Your number on your device = No go.
You number on a different device = OK.
Different number on your device = No go.

I don't think you need a trick. Just try some of things I recommended to see if you can get back to zero. Something with your number and the app is bringing up old times and WhatsApp doesn't like it.

Also if there is a way to sign-out of all sessions, maybe try that too. Again I don't know too much about WhatsApp but is it like Snap and a few others where you can only have one active session at a time? You would know better than I.

Best place for that advice would be XDA forums, were you on the stock firmware or different one?

Best advice I can give you before unlocking bootloader, using majestic or Root
Know how to get back on the stock firmware in case things don't go right.

Unfortunately, most members here at Android Central are from North America, especially from the USA. Redmi is a brand that isn't sold or used in the USA, so it may be better for you to contact Redmi directly and ask them.
