Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto X (2014)

So I just got my new Moto X in the mail as an AT&T upgrade three days ago and just recently got everything activated and in working order. However, it won't let me update from 4.4.4 to 5.0. When I go to "About Phone" and then "System Updates" it says my software is up to date, even though I'm 99.99% sure that Lollipop is available for the Moto X now. I haven't received a notification for an OTA update either. Someone help me :'(

Re: Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto X (2014)

I have a ATT Moto X as well. ATT has not pushed Android 5 yet. Maybe in the next few weeks.....

Re: Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto X (2014)

Lollipop has only been pushed out for the Pure Edition and the Verizon model. The ATT model has yet to receive it's update.

Since the other two models of the phone have already received their updates it is likely that Motorola has already submitted the update to ATT, and ATT is holding it up. The Pure Edition works on ATT, and would have been the better bet because it lacks all the ATT apps that are holding the update up. I'm not sure, however, that you would have been able to get the upgrade price.

That 1% though.. :)

As other's have already posted, Pure Edition and Verizon models so far.

And from the looks of things, rollouts slowed down to address bugs with Lollipop.

Re: Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto X (2014)

I'm content to wait, given the issues some have had with the first rollouts. I am encouraged by those with the Pure Edition and Verizon models who have had a smooth update. My phone works great right now and I do want to start playing in the Lollipop playground, but it's okay with me if AT&T waits a bit longer to send it out. I had a good experience updating my 2013 Moto X to KitKat and I sure would like to have the same with my 2014 and Lollipop.

I have lollipop. Only issue in 5.0 is the screen redraw which I heard was fixed in 5.0.2. Wish moto would push it out for the Pure edition

Really? You're not seeing issues with Attentive Display going AWOL?

And Moto Voice raising the ringtone volume? And it, in general, being much quieter than other sound levels (Google Now, etc.).

Re: Android 5.0 Lollipop on Moto X (2014)

Lollipop broke a lot of the Moto features. I would enjoy kit kat while it lasts.

No not at all. Just screen redraws. Especially after using the camera app. Everything else is working as advertised.

That's hard to believe. Can you indulge me?

1.) On Home screen, using the volume rocker, set your ring volume to vibrate only.

2.) Now say your Moto Voice catch phrase and ask "what time is it".

3.) After it answers, return to your home screen and check your ringer level.

Enjoy Kit Kat while you can. Lollipop is nice but not without it's issues...the memory leak bug being the worst.

I got this problem. The worst of it is the Moto Voice volume being too low. Makes the driving mode barely usable.

I tried what you said and had no issues. Maybe it's an app causing your problem or just a random bug.

I tried what you said and had no issues.

Everyone I have communicated with has experienced this behavior; the ringer volume is reset to approximately 60%. I witnessed this (along with the Attentive Display) issue directly after a cache partition wipe and FDR. I have no idea why you aren't seeing it. You must be closer to God than the rest of us. (c;

I agree. I got Lollipop on my pure edition and it was so bad I rolled it back to KK. Factory reset twice and still had issues with memory leaks, Moto features not working consistently, BT instability, terrible lag on screen refreshes, etc. Looks like lollipop needs more time to get bugs worked out. Now I need to figure out how to stop getting the OTA notice on the screen. It pops up almost 3-4 times a day since I downgraded back to KK.

Just curious, how did you roll back on the Moto X, did you have to flash Kitkat, or were you simply able to rollback ?? I don't have LP, but am just curious of your process.

Soak test for ATT getting ready to roll out!

I followed this steps in this video and it worked great. Needs to be pure edition with an unlocked bootloader.

The update prompts are annoying, but KK is worth it for now. Hopefully the bugs are fixed soon.
