When I click on an Email, my S4 says checked...

and when I uncheck it, it says Not Checked. It doesn't always do this, but seems to get turned on and off randomly every few days. I've looked through the settings and I can't see anything that I'd think this would be. How can I turn this off for good?

The exact same thing started happening to me today with my S4. I have spent the past two hours trying to figure out what caused it. Any help would be appreciate.

Figured it out. You need to disable TTS (Text to Speech) in settings.
