when plugging the phone to the pc I don't get access to phone memory

Hallo,

when I plug my HTC m8 Android phone to my Windows 8 laptop I cannot browse the filesystem of the phone (I can do it when I plug it into my Windows 7 computer). Instead, a CD Drive appear named HTC Sync Manager, which contains a HTC_Sync_Manager_PC.exe file that wants me to install Windows Media Player in order to be run. I only want access to the filesystem of the phone to copy my stuff. I don't want to use any syncing application and I don't want to install windows media player just to copy some pictures on my phone.

Is it possible to do it or I am obliged to use this syncing app ?

Thanks for help

play with USB options on phone - you can choose Media Device, or Camera - my Samsung only works as a Camera. You will see an icon in Notifications showing how connected - tap on it and change to the other mode
