When I switch off Bluetooth and handsfree keyboard I cannot use keyboard on Android, why?

when I switch off blue tooth and handsfree keyboard I cannot use keyboard on android

I have recently bought a wireless keyboard for my android and though it takes time to connect it works OK once in operation however when I switch it off as well as the Blue Tooth I cannot use the actual keyboard on my Samsung android. How do I go about it.
