I just got my Dinc2 and I want to do whatever I can to obtain the best battery life. So I am following the directions which say "It's important to fully charge the battery before turning on your wireless device" written under Powering You Phone On For The First Time in the instruction booklet. However, I don't see anything in the booklet that says when it is fully charged. As of now I just see an orange light with the phone plugged in but still off, does this change? Thanks.

It will become green when fully charged

Thanks.... now I feel like a kid on xmas morning waiting. :)

Edit: any other silly new battery tips I should know of? I don't see anything else in the very limited manual.

Be careful with the wifi settings. I went from great battery life, to horrible, and back to great just by changing those. Make sure "Best Wi-Fi performance" is not checked. Once I fixed that my battery life went to 20+ hours with moderate use.

This ^

I also use all those power on/off settings to turn on and off wifi/3g/etc... when I'm not using them. I'm currently at 48hours since last plugged in and 50% battery left.

(I am in airplane mode a lot though as I fly 3-4 times a day so that probably helps a lot as well.)

Other than the initial charge I haven't done any 'cycling' I guess you'd call it and my bettery life is great!

Go to settings. Go to wireless and networks. Then go to WiFi settings. Click the menu button at the bottom of ur phone. Then select advanced. Make sure its unchecked. :)

My phone is arriving in a few hours, and I'm really impatient--in reading the manual online I noticed that it says you need to charge your phone when you first receive it, but is that to say you can't turn it on while it's charging that first time? Will this affect the battery life? It just says not to remove the battery while charging and not to take the phone apart.

Thanks for any input!

P.S. If anyone wants a google+ invitation, let me know!

That's leftover advice from the days of NiCad and NiMH batteries. Li-ion batteries are nowhere near as sensitive to that stuff, so no need to be as careful. I would plug it in when you get it, but you can certainyl be using it while charging it.
