when is the official gingerbread update coming?

anyone know when the official gingerbread update might be released? i see theres a leaked versiou out but i have no clue as to how to install it. too technical for me . reading the posts on it its very confusing. also my phone is rooted if the official release comes out will it unroot my phone?

If you are rooted, you'll just need to wait for a stable custom rom rather than installing an "official" update. Trust me, this isn't a bad thing. Some GB roms are available already, but they are still a little buggy and there are issues with the radio...so i'd wait on that for now unless you are adventerous.

we already have a leak, all in all the leak was pretty stabel, only issue was the radio which was just reported by jCase to be unstable and he recommended not using the rom yet. I really think that they should have a pretty damn stable rom in another month. I only stopped using it because Jcase said he doesn't recommend it anymore, he is the one who will release the leaks first so he has gotten the inside info. He said the radio might brick your phone so I reverted back to froyo.

Other than the camera problems the gingerbread build was pretty stable. I wouldn't be surprised if we see it next month sometimes.

I've not seen any reason to make me believe that disabling the {free subscription to the} MH will require a software update to the ThunderBolt. Only to the VZW-side MH servers.

I think it will require an update. The Hotspot feature is kind of like an app, and they can't change an app without sending something to the phone. I have no idea, but it's what makes sense to me.

There is no update to the phone required. I use to take calls for Verizon Wireless. There is a feature code on the phone number specifically in the plan setup. When something is offered as a trial the feature code will fall off automatically when it ends like when changing a phone plan with the option to future date, back date or choose the date for it to change. There will be no update required for this "code" to automatically disappear removing the hot spot feature.

Sorry if some thought the end of the hot spot feature would bring another update. Just to clarify to soccerfon711 referring to hot spot being an app. If it were an app update VZW would not do a system update but an "app" update as Google does as well as some of their preinstalled apps. I can promise as I said it's a "feature code," as it's referred to, that will fall off automatically. When you try to use it, it will ask you to either to accept the monthly charges or call customer service to have the correct code placed on so you are charged monthly. Case in point, visual voicemail if anyone has used it.

Well, it may make sense to you, but it's not true. Ask someone in IT. If you disable (or reconfigure) the server that the client is connecting to, the client will be "dissabled". No need to uninstall the client at all. The Mobile Hotspot "app" is a "client".

This is analogous to a website being taken down. They don't have to force the client devices to uninstall IE. If the website is down, no one can connect. The client (Internet Explorer) can stay on the client device. No problem.

back when we were all anticipating the phone, Bennnnn posted that HTC had a contract that they had to provide by end of June, and I think I have seen that confirmed on news articles.
