When is TMobile getting pie ??

I see it , do you have animations off ?
Mine is smooth transition

That's it, I turned off everything regarding Scale in developer options and it's "Animator duration scale" if you turn it off your dialer animation goes nuts but .5x doesn't.

Just the compass bug. I would be shocked if they fixed anything before they release unless major. Small fixes will probably come with next update.

As of right now no compass bug for me , but February security update will bring some features back and other fixes don't Know if compass would be 1 of them .

Have you noticed any major bugs?
The other big problem is that Pro mode is no longer available for shooting videos. It's not known if that's an accidental bug or a deliberate downgrade, but the effect is the same either way.

Big for some, irrelevant to most.

Perhaps. Still indefensible for Samsung to take away an advertised high-end feature that customers have already paid for, and that at least some customers consider important.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever tried to take a video through a window that's either smudged or has raindrops on it, and found that the camera focuses on the window instead of what's beyond it? If so, do you have a way to fix the problem, other than using the manual focus that's only available in Pro mode?

Gary, you have to understand this was a big OS update, everything not going to be bug free right off the bat those will come in next few updates. Some features they have taken out for unknown reasons maybe wasn't working well but they have been adding some features back like schedule night mode and maybe the pro video will also.

I for one would never take a video/photo through a window for possibility reflection of light let alone smudge or anything else .

I do understand, but this isn't rocket science. There's a well-known technique called regression testing that's been standard practice in software engineering for decades. After you make any change, big or small, you run an array of automated tests to make sure all of your basic features and components still work. If they don't, you fix them before you release the product, not after.

Samsung either didn't bother to perform basic required tests, or else they did and released the update knowing it was defective. Neither choice is defensible.

It's obviously preferable to avoid the window, but there are situations where there's no alternative. You might be indoors with windows that don't open, or in a vehicle, or whatever. With Pro mode, the camera can still do a reasonable job. That's one of the things Pro mode is for.

Gary , it is what it is ...we just have to wait patiently.

I respectfully disagree. When a multi-billion-dollar company cheats its customers by refusing to implement standard adequate testing, we should not just wait silently and patiently.

If you look around these forums other manufacturers lot of them in same boat ...Google pixel 3 didn't come with night mode off the bat was later added in through software update.. it was a highly talked about feature why wasn't it in when I first got the phone , bugs ?more work to be done?
NASA sends rockets into space do things screw up absolutely and they are NASA.. engineers struggle everywhere not just phones .

Thanks for the heads up.

'Cheats'? Really. Last I checked the update wasn't mandatory. If the camera is that important to you, wait until they send out another update.

There's no supported way to refuse firmware updates, though it's possible with some work. But that's not a solution, because then you have to refuse security updates too, which are critical for safe use of a smartphone. (Otherwise, you'd be right.)

No, it's not adequate to pay $1000 for a phone and then "wait" weeks or months before it works as advertised. Furthermore, the camera downgrade appears to be deliberate, and there is no indication that Samsung intends to reverse it. But if it was accidental, then it was negligent on Samsung's part, because automated unit tests and regression tests are a standard part of software engineering, and they prevent that sort of thing.

Manufacturers have a legal and ethical obligation to take reasonable steps to provide products that work as advertised. And if they can't, they have an obligation to acknowledge it and offer full refunds for returns.

Mod note: There seems to be a bit of the thread going off topic. Please return to the topic of discussing when the update will come to TMobile. Any other discussion of other topics should be posted under the most appropriate thread or create a new one.
