When using the Skype app on GNex, does the built-in microphone have background noise cancellation?

When using the Skype app on GNex, does the built-in microphone have background noise cancellation?

For example, when I use my VZW GN in a regular phone call, the background street noise is filtered pretty
well. (to the person listening to me on the other end) However, if I call the same person using the Skype
app, he/she hears all the street background noise. Is this because Skype is not using any sort of noise
cancellation that's built into the GN?
