When we upgrade devices, do we get to keep our $30 unlimited 4g?

Yes, as long as you never remove that "feature" from your calling plan you will not lose it.

I think if you would have pushed him he would have been able to "do you a favor"... I wonder how many people they can sucker just because they don't want to stand up for themselves.
It does work. When I tell them I have been with Verizon for 7 years and that I have 4 people on my account (2 Droids and 2 dumbphones) and I have no problem going to Sprint or Metro (ewww) and taking my $180/month...they will listen.

Back in April when they had the "outage", my daughter called and they credited her $30 but when I called (we both have Bolts), they gave me a crap excuse and only credited me $1.50 (yes...a $1.50). Well, I was happy, I called back about an hour later and talked to another Customer rep and explained that my daughter got $30...she said "Ok, no problem...you will be credited $30).

I do the same thing with cable. I have had comcast (in one form or another for 13 years....when they threaten to raise my rates....I call and tell them I am canceling.....miraculously they give me a better rate!

Key words here is: "STAND UP AND DEMAND". They are here to serve you, not the other way around.

Listen if a customer came into a store guns blazing (I love those) the most I could do behind the counter is get you on the line with a supervisor in the credit/account department. What they're going to tell you is exactly what I tell you and it's the truth: unlimited data is no longer in our system as an option and there is no override for it no matter how much we'd like to give it to you to make you happy. I only tell the god honest truth to customers and maybe it didn't sell as many phones as the car salesman approach but people are generally happier. That's the difference between a local retailer and a corporate store.

When I pre ordered the Razr online, 29.99 unlimited was an option for data. Obviously that's the one I chose...

Let me know if that's the feature printed out on your contract. Verizon no longer offers unlimited data period.

Please read the link in my signature because you don't know what you are talking about. If you had unlimited smartphone data before 7/7/11 then you are grand-parented in unless you change it (even after you upgrade), 3G or 4G, Android, iOS, Blackberry or WP7. It does not matter.

Tiered data only effects new smartphone lines/customers and existing ones who are dumb enough to remove the unlimited data when they upgrade.

Apparently reading people's posts before replying is out if style.

Re: When we upgrade devices, do we get to keep our $30 unlimited

I was in the Verizon store no more than 2 weeks ago and I asked the Verizon sales person this exact question:

Me: "If I upgrade my son's DUMBPHONE, will I get the unlimited plan?".

VZW: "No, he won't, he would have had to upgrade before 7-7-11".

Me: "What happens if I downgrade to a dumbphone and then come back to a smart phone?".

VZW: "You would lose your unlimited plan".

Me: "What about if I go to another Android phone?"

VZW: "As long as you keep your unlimited account you will have unlimited everything"

So, that tells me that as long as I am with Verizon and have an unlimited plan, I will always have it. Once they get rid of it, I will probably go to Sprint or whoever has unlimited.

Your data plan is not part of your contract and therefore does not end with your contract. Data plans, along with other features, can be changed/removed at any time without affecting your contract. SO... as long as you dont change your data plan you will not lose unlimited. I have confirmed this with Verizon numerous times.

@ defcon999

Sprint Really!!! Wow talking about a step backword..

You couldn't give me Sprint again, good price isn't any good if you can't use the phone... I couldn't get a signal long enough to use the phone, it was like paying for nothing l. :)

Sprint doesn't have unlimited plans anymore. Only carrier with unlimited data is tmobile, in which you get 2 gigs at normal speed then the rest of your usage is throttled down to a turtle's poop speed.
