How long will oreo be security patched?

I'm using an honor 7s from an iPhone 7 plus and find android amazing but how long will my device get security patches I'm running android oreo 8.1 currently?

For 3 years from device launch usually.

It depends on your manufacturer. Some manufacturers are too lazy but some are not.

Since the phone is less than a year old, they'll probably come out with a Pie (9.0) update for it - then they stop updating Oreo. How long they continue updating Pie is up to them, but most phones don't get security updates after 2 years, so April 2020 (or the last one before that) will probably be the last one.
