When will apps be able to use all my cameras?

With all these phones coming out that have multiple cameras, when are developers going to add support for their apps to take advantage?

Camera FV5, Alfred, Snapchat, Facebook, Messenger, Skype, Hangouts all are able to use the front or main rear cameras, but do not have any options to select my wide angle rear camera.

Is this because of some sort of limitation where the phone only reports one camera to the third party apps?
