AC Question

It shows up in the store on my desktop and says incompatible with my device. My wallet app on my phone has not yet updated. When will I get it?

I have a AT&T Note 3 and I'm still waiting to. My son's Sprint Galaxy Mega downloaded and works with no problems

The NFC chip Samsung used in the Note 3 isn't compatible with the mobile payments system that Pay uses.

The nfc chip being used in the note 3 will never work with any tap and pay. It was Samsung's fault.

i just found out that T-mobile & AT&T Note 3 Doesn't support Android Pay or Google Wallet due to Lack of HCE( Host card emulation).. probably samsung is being smart they wanted to create their own tap & pay app & they did samsung pay so in order to use that you have to buy new gs6 or note 5 its their dirty business.. i give up on samsung phones now. looking forward to buy iphone again..

It's ridiculous that soft card could wright code around the nfc capability of samsung note 3 but google's android pay won't. Google lists the "broadcam nfc chip "as defective but it is not. I used soft card until google bought it, then dismantled it, stupid, really stupid.

I suggest you read up on Host Card Emulation, the technology that backs Android Pay and helps to make it secure. The old Softcard app likely didn't require this but in order to get banks on board with Android Pay Google probably had to require use of HCE. This renders older devices that don't support HCE useless for mobile payments.

I think everyone has given up on the gn3 for tap & pay. It's 2 generations old and nothing yet. Unless you have a sprint.

This is the e-mail I received from Google:

Thanks for reaching out to Google Payments and asking about the availability of Android Pay app on your NFC-enabled phone. Sadly, Android Pay is not available with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I too have a Note 3 with T-Mobile. I was really excited to see if I would be able to finally try the tap and pay feature. However, I recently discovered that T-Mobile doesn't support HCE which is Host Card Emulation, so even with our devices having some NFC capabilities. In addition, the NFC chip in the Note 3 doesn't support the tap and pay. The NFC chip in the Note 3 is for communication from device to device features. I hope this answers your questions but if not feel free to reply and I would more than happy to answer more questions you may have.

If you have any more questions, please reply to this email or let my team call you. We're happy to help!

Thanks,

Sandra

I just spoke to Verizon. They stated it's a hardware issue but they are mailing me a free new updated sim card/with the new nfc requirements for tap and pay. The sim card is a combo sim/nfc and the note 3 released from Samsung does not have the new sim/nfc required chip. The tech support said once I install and active my new sim, google wallet (now android pay) should recognize it and tap and pay should function now as long as I'm on lollipop. So the hardware problem is the simcard. So call them up and ask for the new sim/nfc chip to be mailed. Is free of charge.

From my knowledge nfc chip is wrapped with battery not on Sim card or phone itself, but not sure HCE is related to Sim card but also doubt theres Isis written on old Sim card that's why tap & pay worked on softcard(iSis) guessing if there is new Sim card especially for android pay then don't loose hope on android pay, it's confusing and tricky head to tmobile store and ask free new sim card?
