When will my EVO LTE get KitKat

Ok all joking aside, why would we ever get 4.3 at this point? It seems like Kit Kat would make more sense on numerous fronts. And sense HTC doesnt seem posed to create a new flagship(either an updated ONE or new EVO) wouldn't jumping this phone to Kit Kat be a better business move for them and their relationship with Sprint at least until they resolve some their internal strife and figure out what direction they intend to take the company? just my thoughts but interested in y'alls takes as well

Because almost all the work for testing and porting 4.3 to the Evo has likely already been done. And that is probably a considerable amount of time and money invested. If they were to consider 4.4, they would have to start all over again.

I agree which is why Kit Kat makes 4.3 less likely. If you released 4.3 right now it may extend the device life 6 months at most and since you just released the successor(One Max) of the your most commercially viable phone ever(The One) with no plans of anything else in the chain why would you pinhole your company in that manner. Keep em waiting for Kit Kat,which Google has already marketed as a savior of older devices, and it effectively extends your R&D cycle for the next killer product in your arsenal

With only 1gb of ram the LTE may not even run 4.3 sense stabily. Maybe aosp, but not full blown sense.

I know the 4GLTE will nevery see Kit kat. But I believe the point of Kit kat is that it can run very well on lower end specs because google wants to expand in emerging 3rd world markets.

But also watches, and embedded and such... lots of things can benefit from a chop in needed specs.

Kit Kat is designed to run on lower end devices. Kit Kat bloated with sense? Now that's a mystery.

No. It is designed to run *better* on devices with lower specs (primarily less memory) than the previous of Android version did. The older Evo LTE is still not matched by even current "low end" devices, so it shouldn't be much of a problem. The high end is just starting to become 2GB norm so the Evo LTE is slipping into a mid-range spec when compared to current mid-range devices.

Kit Kat bloated with sense? Now that's a mystery.

Well, HTC worked to make Sense more efficient, but with each release it still gets bigger and more demanding (but typically so does Android and apps and everything else). We know the Evo LTE will run KitKat with Sense just fine, because other HTC phones of the same spec already do...

Well my G2 hasnt even got Kit Kat yet....will suck if my backup phone(now my EVO) gets 4.3 before my current phone(G2) gets Kit Kat

HTC one just got kitkat and I love it! My EVO LTE is now my backup as well. I think the ltevo is still a comparable device compared to some of the more recent phones released.

i would actually have to agree with you. Im no longer with Sprint but i did keep my EVO LTE as back up WiFi only device and it is still a great device.
I need to sell it before the value drops to much.
