The Best Buy Web site has been showing that the Nexus 6p will be in stock in the stores. The first date came and went. The current date in Ohio shows February 3rd. None of the store associates know anything about the phone in general or when\if it will be in stock. Does anyone have any information on Best Buy stocking the phone? I want one but want to see the phone first.

I am shocked they even mention getting it. I didn't think Google was going to allow anyone to sell it but them and Huawei.

You're mistaking store pickup with a product being stocked at a store. Store pickup in this case really just means they will ship the product to the store and you can pick it up by that day. I don't think they have any plans of keeping stores stocked with the 6P.

You might wanna just check their return policy for the 6P. You might be able to just order it and return it to your local store if it's too big for you.

I am really curious about that relationship, to be honest. I am pretty sure the reason they abandoned the carriers was the fiasco that became the Nexus 6's software releases once the carriers had even a small say in the matter. That won't really be an issue with a box store like Best Buy...

And I don't think it is a coincidence that they ran a $20 Best Buy promo with Android Pay either.

Only ONE store out of 16 in my area had the gold 6P in stock. Now, they are out of stock and won't be available until February 3rd. However, that date will change...again...and again. Weeks ago, it was showing Jan 13, Jan. 16, Jan. 21, etc. Every time it changes. I got tired of waiting and just ordered from the Google Play store.

Rest assured Best Buy was\is planning on having the Nexus 6p in stock, in the stores.

Google actually has a TV commercial for the Nexus 6p. The commercial has nothing to do with Best Buy, but Google is promoting the phone.

Thanks for the info.
I can wait for a bit. I'm out of contract sometime around February 5th.

Oh look at that, there's a store 35 miles away that actually has one in stock for pickup today! First time I've seen it stock in store since they started carrying it.

When purchasing from best buy, are you able to add it to your mobile device payment plan, or would I have to pay full retail right then and there? I am on VZW

No, you'll have to pay full retail price. Google is not selling their phones through any carriers... they got sick of the nonsense they all pulled with the Nexus 6.

The best buys around me keep changing the date pushing it back. So i just bought one from Google.

Bought mine through Telus, $220 up front, the rest over the 24 month contract period - not sure if this is what you're referring to, but if so, then yes, you can purchase through subsidized carrier plan. But I'm in Canada and don't know if you are talking about US or Canada. Both have come up in this thread!

So,bit of a noob question but is the 6p "unlocked" and can be used with any carrier?..... and if I put my UK sim into an unlocked phone would I then be dependant on updates via my carrier,Tmobile UK?Thanks,David.

Well, the 6P is unlocked... well.. MOST are... .I've heard that some places internationally, they are getting sold SIM-locked. Which is an abomination... but I digress. From Google, there's nothing blocking you from moving around carriers.

Now, what CAN affect you is the model. The North American model and the Global model. As long as you have the global model, it'll work in the UK. But the NA variant supports slightly different bands.

As for updates, carriers are not involved in the slightest. The Nexus 6 was a little different. Google coordinated things with carriers a little bit, foolishly thinking that carriers wouldn't do the stupid things that carriers do. Carriers started to do the stupid things that carriers do.... i.e. delayed important updates for, well, 'reasons'. There were WAY too many software revisions because carriers suck in this regard... This all turned Google's collective stomach, so they told carriers to pound sand and now sell only direct.

So no matter what SIM you have in the 6P, you will get updates from Google when Google deems it fit.
