Anyone who's been with AT&T for any length of time knows that they are notoriously slow when it comes to releasing updates of any kind, for any phone.

That article doesn't say anything about AT&T

yeah it just means that it will be released for gs3.. doesn't mean att (or any carrier) will adopt it yet.

generally the samsung updates are for intl versions. in the us you have to wait for the carriers to futz around with it. and they dont want you to upgrade your firmware, they want you to upgrade your phone. so there is no incentive for them to put an update out.

I suspect AT&T is to busy getting everybody hot and sloppy over the GS4 to worry about us GS3 users. Took me forever to get Gingerbread on my old Moto Bravo, and I felt so blessed when it came down. Just rooted my GS3 and am exploring custom ROMs. Screw AT&T.

Good for you. It's the right thing to do. Take control of your phone, loose the AT&T bloatware, get the latest OS, and enjoy the benefits.

That's what this thread needs. More positive action, and less whining.

While it is definite that I will receive the update for 4.3 on my Nexus 7 within a few a days, I just want mention on this thread that most of the best video player apps (MX Player, BS Player, Dice Player) are either not fully functioning of not working at all on 4.3.

I use BS Player every day on all my devices, so my excitement for the new update is tempered by the reality of development catchup. I also have yet to hear if the flashplayer sideload will still work.

Also, if you are in the market for a tablet and you can afford it, I recommend getting a Nexus 7 or Nexus 10 for the pure Google experience. I've been on 4.2.2 on my N7 since November and it has allowed me to relax a little about not getting 4.1.2, 4.2.2, or 4.3 on my AT&T gs3.
