I began having problems about a week ago - phone shutting off many times a day, sluggish, Android updates every morning. Tried several things - removing most widgets from screens, uninstalling unnecessary apps, resetting back to factory, etc. Talked to AT&T Support (removing widgets idea and clearing apps caches). Got phone to quit shutting off, but then had the sluggishness. I couldn't even type a text mesg.
The fix: I went into the settings, then the "backup and restore" settings and turned off backing up to Google so that when I reset my phone back to factory settings, Google did not restore the same problems. Unfortunately you have to manually install apps again. I didn't mind as long as my phone worked correctly.
I had one problem, Google Play Store did not work. Someone said to go into the settings/apps and find the Play Store app and clear the cache. Everything's good now.
I believe the problems are related to updates, so you could wait until they get things fixed, but I was not willing to wait. Hope this helps.
