yeah hahaha soon. apple is too "stiff" when it comes with its image but an android can be anyone. Thats my main reason for like the android OS more than the apple OS. I felt so cramped when i played with iphones. I think all it will take is another flagship phone like "a nexus" that will literally blow next years iphone out of the water... into space... then into the sun LOL. till that time the android name should become more well known to the general public. but back on topic...

First come, First Serve Mentality FTW!!!

i wonder if you'll still have to mail in the rebate if you buy at a corporate VZW store. for example, many times on the VZW website, they offer "instant rebates" when buying online. The same goes for buying a phone at a corporate VZW store. The only place I've seen that you have to mail in rebates is when you buy from a regular cell phone retailer. Some of the retailers look just like corporate VZW stores, but the easiest way to tell the difference is that the corporate stores have live workign phones. The poser stores have "dummy" phones.

Talked to a VZW rep in a coprorate store yesterday and she said "normally VZW will open up a pre-order type thing a day or two befoer the official launch date". Lets hope....

They have already that there will be plenty in stock so no need to go crazy trying to snatch one up well all get one. I have to send this darn eris back so ive gotta wait until the 15 to order by phone anyway so pre ordering is out for me. Not too worrid about it. this x will be awesome for about ooooo 4-5 months when the next phone thats better comes out and we all run out to get that one.

corporate stores do mail in rebates, the only place that does instant is the verizonwireless.com, and places like Best Buy

Many levels of wrong here. Corporate stores do MIR. I don't think I have ever seen them not. When ordering online they do instant. I may just order online to save hassle. Also I am leaving for the beach in two weeks after the phone is launched. Another $100 wouldn't be bad to have just in case...

So I had a lengthy conversation with a vzw rep yesterday, and the moral to the story from corporate is that due to the fubared preorder of the Dinc they are NOT preordering the Dx...however, if you are within 2-3 months of your renewal date, they will change you contract date to now (needs supervisor approval, just call and ask) and you can preorder at best buy...Other than that, you just have to wait for the 15th and order online, in store, or over phone... goodluck everyone!

When do people think they will open up ordering online? I'm hoping right at midnight July 15th. I'd rather not pull an all-nighter hitting F5 over and over again lol

yeah the girl told me yesterday that nothing until the 15th, no actual time quote...but get this, forgot to say before, she wouldn't quote me a price because she said customer service had not been given that information yet because the device is not out yet...

the corporate store in my city has always offered the exact same deals that verizonwireless.com offers. instant rebates, BOGO, etc. Maybe, I'm just lucky. :p I guess we'll know for sure in 2 weeks.

Probably been asked and answered already but are kiosks in places like PC Richards and BJ's considered corporate stores?

Our corporate store has MIR, but they also do BOGO and etc. I have never heard of a VZW store doing instant rebates!! I asked ours before and they said that it was part of the lure of online ordering to get the instant rebate!!! Maybe yours just did it for you for some reason!! Lucky you I guess!! :p

This.

In all the years I've purchased a phone from VZW (since 1998) I have yet to see an instant rebate when making an in-store purchase.

I've had them honor online pricing once but they usually just try to give me 20% off or something like that on accessories.

The frustrating thing is how I can talk to 3 different sources, Verizon cust svc, Verizon store and a 3rd Party Vendor and get completely different stories from all three. Even subsequent calls to the VZW CS# asking the SAME QUESTIONS receive different answers...why doesn't the right hand know what the left hand is doing with this company?

I can honestly say that customer service reps (no matter which avenue you approach them) know little to nothing regarding the Droid X, besides the date of its launching and obviously specs (public knowledge afterall).

I suspect that stores will start receiving training units sometime over the weekend or early next week to prep for the launch.

Just be patient everyone, we are two weeks away :)

I asked a CSR last night to bump up my NE2 from July 23rd to the 15th so I could get the droidX, and he said that shouldn't be a problem, and tried to preorder the phone. Put me on hold for a few minutes, said the price was screwed up, and said he also couldn't bump up the NE2 until the phone was available. I'm going to try with another CSR, since someone else said they had their upgrade date moved from august or november or something. No reason why they can't bump it up a few days for me beforehand so I don't have any troubles at the store.
