When/Will Verizon offer the DroidX up for pre-order?

They could be skipping preorders so people will line up outside like the iPhone. I plan on getting to my local store at 5-6AM or so. Just gotta get my NE2 bumped up a week or so.

They got burned with Incredible. I cannot blame them at all.

Yeah, I figured that was part of it.

I just noticed an ad in this month's "Costco Connection" that advertises Android Phones. I completely forgot that VZW has kiosks in Costco. Next time I'm threw, I might stop by and ask the employee whether or not they have plans on preordering.

I've stopped in PC Richards (stores in Northeast only I think) and they have no intention of taking preorders right now. Reps in ZCOM stores also told me they won't even know how many phones they're getting until right before launch most likely. I have also asked reps in mall kiosks.

The rep at ZCOM said that Verizon is very hesitant to release this type of info, that's why they have preorder troubles for big phones. Verizon makes their own problems then resolves them by not doing preorders at all I guess?

local VW store said a few days before releasing they will except preorders, and would contact me. But we'll see.

My local corporate VZW store took my name, cell number, and email today. They said they aren't taking pre-orders but will be contact all people on "the list" when they know how many units they will be allocated.

I also asked about the early upgrade policy; I have 5 lines, and I know that 2 of the lines were previously eligible for upgrades. 2 more are up for upgrades at the end of the year (but still eligible for the Droid X upgrade) and one other line they could still be upgraded early if I upgraded that one to a "smartphone." The funny thing is.....that last line has a BB Pearl Flip on it.......it's alreasy on a smartphone plan! I confirmed that with them, and they said "yup"......just as long as you want to change phones and get another smartphone, you can upgrade it to the Droid X. Damn!!!! they are planning on putting a Droid in everyVZW customers hands if they can!!!

on a side note of weirdness........I started this thread, but, for some reason, I am listed as the 8th poster in this thread. huh???? Somebody must have converged 2 different threads into 1 but they used the title I put on it.

You started a duplicate thread so the two were merged. Once merged they are listed in order, but I liked your title better ;)

Well for any hopefulls on Verizon pre-order.... if you look back on Verizon, they started pre-orders for the Incredible 10 days before!!! So maybe, just maybe Verizon will do that again!!! Although I am not holding my breath!! ;P

Not sure if this is entirely sure but from what The Verizon reps at the store said, there are not going to be any preorders. The earliest you can claim/order your phone is on July 15th online or at a store. Sadness :( hopefully they open preorders.

Yeah I have heard that too, and then everyonce in awhile you see a post that a vzw rep said they will a few days before!! Who knows.... like I said I am not holding my breath!!! LOL

I think verizon and moto want to make a statement by getting people lined up and having a big release. to kinda show at&t and apple our product draws just as much if not more intrest. its a mini pissing contest. i wouldnt wait in any line outside of a store for any device personally.

to be realistic im pretty sure no one at the store im going to will show up, but not many people around where i live care as much. which is good for me >:]

at the same time apple has only one handset at a time and is known more to the random public while android is the OS with tons and tons of different phones. The likelihood for people to line up for an android device is much smaller than that of an apple phone. not a proven fact but just considering the number of phones/types of phones and such :p

I'll be at the verizon Store First Thing in the morning aslong as there is no pre-order!

No Preorder = Fair Game! First Com first Serve!
