Where are the reviews?

Yes I realize this phone is nearly identical to the T-Mobile version but here we are 4 days before the phones release and there is not a single review for this phone on any website nor any youtube video reviews or unboxings. This is quite strange as the Echo had unboxings and reviews as early as 2 weeks before its release. Same goes for the HTC Arrive. I just want to hear that the GPS works perfect!!!

The phone has not be released yet. Therefore no reviews on the final release other than the impressions from CTIA as already mentioned. There's really not going to be a whole lot to review other than how the phone operates on the 4G network since it's identical, spec wise, to the T-Mo version.

Like I said all new phones have reviews and unboxings usually 1-2 weeks before the phones release date. This phone has zero. Its quite odd...

Sprint is not really pushing this phone at all, so is likely the release date will come and pass with no fanfare and won't be a blip in the radar for anyone else besides us.

Which is good because everyones grandma doesnt go out and buy one and yoyr left waiting for it because its sold out because of the big push. Aka the evo. And im feeling like the evo 3d is gonna be like that.

I like it when they dont push phones. I like flying under the radar.

Just read any Nexus S review, the ONLY difference is going to be the network, but if you already know how Sprint is, then its not to big of a deal.

There's nothing odd about the phone having no reviews. The phone is over 5-months old with 4G capabilities. If you call Sprint asking for more information on the phone I bet they will refer you to Best Buy for T-Mobiles variant with the same network speeds as the Evo.

I'm being a bit sarcastic, but the device doesn't offer any wow factor to set it apart from it's T-Mo variant. Don't get me wrong - if the opportunity was there I'd jump on the phone since because of the design, 4G and future support by google on the OS iterations. It's just that Sprint is riding on the Evo-3D and hoping it has the same fanfare that the Evo 4g did last year.

enGadget reviewed the Verizon iPhone4, and gave it a ****ing 9/10. But is was still the same outdated and old phone, nothing new whatsoever. At least the new sprint Nexus-S gets 4G and 2.3.4 update, making it a little different compared to the T-Mobile version.

+1!

Why do people get so worked up bout engadget? They always give the new iPhone a 9/10, who cares?! I care bout what the context says bout the phone, not some random number thrown together. Thats why I love Android Central's review, talk bout the Hardware, Software, Performance, Pros, and Cons. No number, just straight content, makes you read the review instead of just looking at a number and getting upset.

Wow rant over.

I also prefer when awesome phones fly under the radar... The less it sells the more the price (hopefully) goes down!

I agree with most that all the reviews covered the ns already and are likely not to get done again. However I also feel that getting a review on 4g speeds, google voice integration with sprint, and gps fix issues would be beneficial to all.

But as said above, under the radar is the way to go. The only thing I brag about are gadget stuff and my phones to my family. First slider, first qwerty, first palm/wm/android owner etc. Makes me feel like a rockstar :p I can just imagine the "whoa what is that slick all black phone?" And the "that is an awesome screen off animation."

Why not just read a review on the original Nexus S? Or better yet, skip the review, go to best buy and play with one of the live units from T-mobile? Then you'll have first hand experience with the phone and decide whether its for you or not. Its not been confirmed if the NS4G will ship with 2.3.4 or if it will be an instant update, and the only other difference would be the radios for CDMA instead of GSM. I don't see why there would even be a real need to get a review for a phone that's identical to the one released by T-mobile 5 months ago. Seems pretty redundant, but there is the CTIA review, not really sure how much more there could be.

4g speeds on a CDMA network and Google voice integration with Sprint are the only "known" differences, most likely the only differences.

Unless I missed it, I have not read a reliable source confirming the NS4G shipping with 2.3.4

The 2.3.4 update is available for Tmo versions here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/sam...ink-installation-instructions.html#post864166 and also over at XDA here: [GUIDE] 2.3.4 OTA - Variants and their links - xda-developers I wouldn't worry if the NS4G has a lesser version as I would assume it should be available quickly, or we may come to find in the next few days that they shipped updated.

*/> edit <\* I did miss something as I just found this helpful tidbit from gbhil: http://forum.androidcentral.com/878907-post116.html

+1 Well put. I basically did all this and more to research this device and actually picked up the Tmo NS as I felt the coverage is better on their network compared to Sprint in my main use areas; I used my buddies Sprint EVO at my house and work to get a gauge of what to expect. So far my reception and data service has been stronger than his Sprint service in the tested areas, of course this is just my results from the areas I compared them in. In a solid 4g area I assume his service would beat mine, there just is not any Sprint 4g towers near me to make use of it.

The only real decision to make is which provider has better coverage in your highly traveled areas as these phones are basically identical. And the few days I have had mine have been great, the phone is snappy, has a beautiful screen and an overall nice feel in the hand.. impressive device.

Have you seen how many views unboxings and reviews get on youtube for phones? Its like porn for geeky people like me. I love opening new things or seeing new things be opened. Like I said at the start though I want to see if the GPS works perfect on the NS4G otherwise I will not be buying it. The whole Galaxy S line of phones still have GPS issues to this day whether they say they fixed them or not. I have already played with the T Mobile version at Best Buy which is why I like this phone so much. But their phone has a dead sim card in it so you cannot test anything on it because they also lockout WIFI. Just was wanting to see some reviews or unboxings like every other phone gets before release. Usually Best Buy mobile hooks up Phonedog with a review unit a week before so not sure where the review is being only 3 days from release...

Can we confirm that the hotspot/wifi tether will be an additional $29 a month through Sprint? I know the feature is built in to Gingerbread 2.3.4 that the Nexus S 4G will have pre-loaded. My T-Mobile Nexus S does not require any additional tethering service to be added and simply counts as your everyday data usage. This would be a big disappointment if Sprint decides to charge for this feature that is built into the "Vanilla" Android experience. Anyone have any insider information or has spoken with Sprint Customer Service about tethering?

The Nexus S reviews won't tell us anything about the battery life or the 4G performance, two major areas I'm interested in.

Ahem, once rooted you can download Wireless Tether and it is free.
