Where did the rest of my space go?

If we add up these used space details, they so not add with available space to give the total space of tab is. 12.2gb, leaves 1.3gb of unexplained stores. where is it? can I get details. how to manage space in long run.

I'm sure that missing piece of space is probably used by the OS in some fashion.

The missing space isn't missing at all - it's taken up by hidden apps of the operating system, as someone has already said. All mobile devices are presented in this way - 16 gb isn't 16 at all, it's around 13GB - be aware of this when buying these kind of devices. If you think you're going to need more space, then perhaps you should upgrade to the 32gb!

it says total space 12.2GB, means 3.8 used for OS. that means that available to use, but when you add the used and free its not equal to 12.2

Not sure of your point, I just added those figures and got just 12.01, which admittedly isn't 12.2. I have found before that these totals are not 100%, I think it's because some things are incalculable as actual file, thumbnails for instance. Basically, you're half full now, will that be enough?
