Totally agree with everyone here. Been looking for a tough case for Note 10.1, Up till today still no luck. Otterbox seems to focus more on idevices been looking for Note 10.1 defender case but they don't have it.

Ironically, they produced a Defender for the Tab 2 10.1.

Well I heard through the grapevine that the new otterbox case fit the note 10.1 minus not being able to access the stylus. Yea....not so much. It's about an 1/8" too big for the case. I'm really disappointed...I hate not having it in a case. Back to waiting for a case.....

Hi Everyone,

After handing over my Ipad 2 to my wife along with an Otterbox Case, i decided to purchase a Galaxy note 10.1 for my self since i upgrade my cell phone from a blackberry Torch to a Samsung G3. I must say that i purchased an Otterbox case for my G3, but have a veryhardtime in finding similar protective case for my Galaxy Note 10.1. I need a protective case, due to it always being on the road with it daily. her is my replay from otterboc from last week.

Dear XXXXX,
Unfortunately, we do not have plans to develop a case for that device at this time. I would recommend keeping an eye on our website, iPhone cases, iPad cases, DROID cases and more by OtterBox | OtterBox.com, and Facebook page, as they will have the most up to date information for every new release.
Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any additional questions.

Cheaper to just buy accidental damage protection. For 50 bucks Best Buy replaces it for me twice . It's been a few months and I haven't dropped it once. No way I'm carrying around a big case as well.

I just sent a request to Otterbox too. I have 20 Refrigeration techs I want to use a SG Note 10.1 for service reporting in future. There is no way they are leaving my office without a rugged case on them. I have cases for all the SG S3's and iPHONE's in the place, (about 30 of them).

I can confirm that the case for the SG Tab 10.1 does not fit, (I have two SG Tab 10.1 here with cases). The SG Note 10.1 is physically about 6mm wider.

Hopefully Otterbox will come to the party, (or someone else will see how many of us are screaming and make a similar device).

Rob.

Agreed, I tweeted OB about this some time ago and like the rest of you I got their standard "watch this space" message.

So in the mean time I have tested out a few different options and from a good protection level - I went with this:
Amazon.com: Gumdrop Cases Drop Tech Series Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi Version Only - Black/Black (DT-SAM101-BLK-BLK)Disclaimer: This case DOES NOT fit the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2: Computers & Accessories

The rubber/silicon molding stretches to fit my Note 10.1 and I used a craft knife to make ready access to the stylus.

This was late last year and my searches on Amazon are showing some new cases on there purpose made for the Note so I might try them out too.

E.g:
Amazon.com: Fosmon JEL Series Soft Silicone Skin Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 - Black: Electronics
Amazon.com: MiniSuit Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 Tablet N8000 TPU Silicone Skin Cover (Professional Black): Electronics

Hopefully OB will come to the party soon.

Kiwi Blair, Stay away from the MiniSuit Gel Case, I had it and returned it. If you look at the pics, the case doesn't cover all of the Bezel around the screen. When I held it, the cover would peel back over the edges, because It didnt' cover the front edges enough to stay on.

This is the case I've been using for months on mine as my everyday Case. It's a gel case and came recommended on the XDA forums website under best accessories for the GN 10.1. It covers over all the edges and over the bezel up to the screen. It has the holes cut out for everything. Works great for me. Here's the link. It costs a bit more, but well worth it.
Amazon.com: Amzer AMZ94661 Soft Silicone Jelly Skin Fit Case Cover for 10.1-Inch Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N8000/GT-N8013 - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black: Computers & Accessories

I contacted Otterbox and got the same response." No plans to produce a case for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" disappointing to say the least. I have had great luck with the OB stuff and now need to find a comparable product?

The Best Buy protection seems to vary. My store said $100.00. I know someone in a other town that got it for $50.00.

I also recommend the warranty route if you are really concerned. Personally, I know many people with tablets and the only person that ever broke one is simply a careless person. If you treat it like a baby you should be fine unless you are ridiculously unlucky. My experiences with otterbox cases has been that they add too much bulk, make your tablet look silly, and cost close to the same cost of a warranty--so why not buy the warranty and be certain you're protected? Plus, by the time the warranty is up you'll be ready to upgrade to the newest device anyway.

I have posted similar info on a few threads but just for posterity sake in case my info helps anyone lol :)

I bought the Note 10.1 on Saturday w/ an invisibleSHIELD by ZAGG and a Belkin case (Some sort of leather Cinema Folio something or other)... Now the ZAGG protector has a ton of poor and negative reviews but , hey, it's what I got, (I won't go without a plastic shield type protector at all) and the case was also the only one available. Both are if nothing else serviceable. I would buy an otterbox defender asap if one was available. As I have posted in other threads, I got drunk and let a friend goad me into an iPhone 3GS in summer 2009... he had bought one at release and brought it out on a Sunday afternoon at the bars... when I got home that nite despite hating Apple and never owning even an iPod, I ordered a 3GS and AT&T total unlimited plan (I was working a good job and making really decent dough then)... anyway I immediately purchased a 3pack of plastic screen protectors AND put it into an OtterBox Defender ... was amazing. Obviously I probably gave up some of the screen sensitivity but I don't really play games so it was fine. For 1 solid year it was perfect... I mean perfect. Having bought it like 7/1? 2009 , I kept it in the OB Def. and w/ screen protector also, for 1 solid year, removed in like 6 or 7?/2010 ... within weeks was noticeably scarred and dinged/dented/scratched, in a few more months a drop broke the glass big time. So it was basically a broke 3GS for the 2nd year of the 2 year contract. Really sucked.

Now I got the Note 10.1 tablet (and was NOT really prepared for the purchase that is another story I was telling elsewhere, all the sudden I was walking out the store with a new SG GXT Note 10.1 and needing to learn it and protect it...) ... I bought the expensive IMHO $30 ZAGG + $15 for installation (Supposedly by my stores best installer ) and the case was like $60 bucks.. [Not really fair ,the guy sold us two cases for $35/each that apparently were for the Tab... when we got home and realized we had to take them back, and they're like, yeah well you can exchange but the ones you want are nearly double the price... kind of shady IMHO].... I am ALL ABOUT PROTECTION for this. I am so steamed I get fingermarks on the screen protector every day {and apparently you can't use regular stuff to clean it, not even my expensive Zeiss wipes/Spray/etc. for my riflescopes cause they have alcohol}... If they had Otterbox's I'd buy them right now. sucks they won't do it. {Also as a side note, the great thing about them is since you're so well protected, Even if YOU DONT plan to sell the device ever, you find that after 1 year or even two years, you're machine is so mint condition, you CAN get top dollar in sales for it and upgrade... I had a TON of Big $$$ offers for my 3GS in 2010 that I ignored, then it bought the farm w/ marks and scratches and ppl were like, forget that i'll wait for the 4 or buy a better conditioned used on Craigslist).

It's odd they won't make one for the GN 10.1 when they make it for the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Are they simialr enough in design or size to work?

Now, they just announced the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 tablet. Let's see how long before or after the launch date that Otterbox unviels a Defender case for that tablet!

90 bucks for a case is obscene, you can a Suitcase for that price and probably a pretty good one.
