Where the 3gb's of internal memory is...

So we all know the MyTouch 4g is rated at 4gb of internal memory, but you only get a tad over 1gb of that to actually use. Well I just ran a adb shell df and here you go:

I have to say I'm a bit flabbergasting at how the system is using 448mbs.. That's insane. There's two things though that really has me for a loop, maybe someone can chime in... If the /dev and the /mn/asec are different, then there's basically 621+MBs (over half a gig) going to absolute waste since both have 321+mb set aside however NON are actually being used. Here's what REALLY has me confused.. there's 1gb that's unaccounted for...

~321mb /dev
~559mb /system
~1.2gb /data (what you get to use)
~295mb /cache
~221mb /devlog
~321mb /mnt/asec (if this is different than the /dev)
~82mb /app/cache
---------------
~2999mb/~2.99gb

Sooo... there's 1gb of memory unaccounted for. Anyone wanna chime in about where that could be going? tried the adb shell fdisk -l but it's not rooted so no go.. Anyone have any ideas? While 1gb of user memory is more than enough, it's still ridiculous that a phone spec'd at 4gb only has 1gb of usable space.

you need an IPhone 4 if you want the one with the bigger GBs

I don't remember where i read this, but i heard the mytouch 4g has some storgage hidden or already stored for future updates
