While going through the settings on the phone recently I realised that Wi-Fi was set to 2.4 rather than 5 gigahertz. The advanced settings tab doesn't seem to be there in Wi-Fi however so does anyone know how to change this to use the faster 5 ghz band?

The easiest way is to name the connections differently - add a "5" to the end of the name of the 5GHz connection (in the router). then choose that one to connect to.

Thanks Rukbat.

I would only connect my phones to the 2.4 GHz Network because it really doesn't matter, it's not like you'll be downloading multiple gigs of data that require the increased speed of the 5GHz network AND the 2.4GHz has better WiFi range and consumes less battery due to that.
