You do realize they wanted to put the 835 in the G6, right? It wasn't available in their launch window so they had to use the 821. It was either beat Samsung to market and try to capture some sales or wait until May/June to use the 835. They know they aren't going to sell tens of millions of units like Samsung. The point was to put out a quality device, while listening to customer feedback. I think they did. Now it comes down to price which has yet to be released outside of Korea.

How did they listen to customer feedback with the non removable battery, lower internal storage option, and no high quality DAC? On the flip side it has the larger screen and smaller form factor as well as improvements to the wide angle camera.

It's pretty obvious that the majority of people could care less about a removable battery. While not great, 32gb internal with SD card slot is more than enough storage for 95+% of people. And the DAC is in the V20 if that's a must have, which is obviously isn't for most people considering how many phones don't have a quad DAC.

This. As tourbound said 95% (or probably more) don't care about that. It is a very niche crowd who really swap on the regular for batteries, have 200-300 GB on their phone of data, or care about a Quad DAC. I assume LG will keep most of that stuff for the V line (V20/V30) and keep the G6 as their "Galaxy" competitor.

The best selling phones have no removable batteries and no high quality DAC. 32gb in the past has been enough but it seems the competition might make 64gb the standard this year. I think the masses prefer waterproofing to removable batteries.

They're also called SAMSUNG and APPLE, not LG. You all are right those things won't move the needle that much. But this is not an impressive presentation of a flagship phone to me.

Sony does not seem to have any problem in getting 835s. I guess we will see what happens. They are going to be competing head on against at least one phone with an 835 and 2x the amount of memory in at least the NA market. Their choice - I would have waited instead of releasing a flagship phone in 2017 with 2017 specs. Again that is just me. Others seem excited - I just don't see it, the G6 will be coming out right at the time Samsung announces and will be heavily marketing the S8. Plus Sony has announced their flagship.

Cool, I think I saw this in Dilbert once - The target is the uneducated buyer. Lets make sure we don't let the consumer know what they are buying. I can see it now in the store - Buyer "why does this phone say 32 and this other one say 64" Seller "just ignore that, you don't need to know what is inside your phone"
