Which app do I use to play music on the Pixel?

So I got my Pixel XL yesterday. I'm loving it so far, but maybe I'm missing something.
I've used the Note series since the Note 2 & I've had an Android since the OG Droid. I've always just used the built in music player for whatever phone I have. I never really needed a topnotch music player and I'm not an audiophile at all. Just something to listen to every now and again.
But I'm not seeing a "music player" or anything like that on the XL. Is there something I'm missing? Is Google expecting us to use a different app? I usually have plenty of data available, but I don't like streaming my music over the cloud; I'd rather have it on the phone where I know I can access it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yes, you can use Google Play Music and pin (download) all the music that you want to your device.

Yes, Play music is a cloud based player, but it will also play any music files you put on your phone. You just have to go to your music library.

Play music also has an option to only show downloaded music, which shouldnt matter if youve never uploaded your library to google music, but its an option nonetheless.

Play Music. Always. The storage locker is so key, grab your tracks that aren't available on gplay (remixes/local artist/etc) and throw em in the cloud for consumption. Major key.

So I downloaded music on my pixel and I don't have a media player. Play music charges me to subscribe just to listen to my music?

Play music let's you upload up to 20,000 of your songs for free and to listen to them for free.

I selected "downloaded only" on the menu bar because I assume that's where my music would be and it keeps prompting me to pay $9.99 and after selecting no thanks, I can't move forward from there. My music won't show up unless I pay. What a bummer.

Apple music. I have an iPad and two macs, so that's only one subscription for everything.

My husband had the same thing happening to him as well last night...

For music already on my phone, I use either Shuttle or PowerAmp. Neither requires you to be connected to the web or cloud so they are perfect for use in airplane mode.

When you go into google music choose the drop down on the top left and go to music library. it'll play directly from there no charge.

Honestly I installed the Sony Walkman APK and called it a day. Google music app is a cluttered mess. Even more so when you are just trying to play your own music. It's also an ugly app and that orange color has to go.
