I'm looking to get my fiancee a sub £160 tablet for Xmas and wondered which is the best for performance?
Been looking at the Hudl 2 and Memo pad 8 (me181c) And these seem to be the best bang for buck, but which is the better of the two? And are there better ones for similar money?
Thanks in advance 😊

I don't know too much about the Hudl 2, but I recall a post here complaining about how much bloatware comes preinstalled, significantly reducing the available storage for the user. I would imagine the MeMO Pad would have less bloat.

I would recommend the Nexus 7 2013. You can find refurbished ones for the price your looking at. But if I had to choose between the two, I'd go Memo 8.

Don't know what her use-cases are, but don't disregard Windows tablets/hybrids. There are many new, budget models available. Just sayin'.

If productivity is a priority, this is worth considering, imo.

I just bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro for $150 and it's pretty kickass so far. If you want the ultimate web browsing experience in the palm of your hand, get a Windows 8 tablet.

The 2013 Nexus 7 is still a great buy, and I'm sure you could find a used LG G Pad 8.3 (Google Play Edition or skinned) in your price range. I've had my G Pad for almost a year and love it, though I wish I'd bought the GPE.

I'll second a vote the Dell Venue 8 (3840 model). I just bought one too and its pretty kick ***. The screen blows the 2012 Nexus and Asus ME181 away. Its 1900 x 1200, not 1200 x 800. The blacks are much darker too.

It also has Android 4.4.4 out of the box and very little Dell bloatware. It's fast with the new Intel Z3480 SoC and feels premium.

My vote is for the Dell - but make sure its the 3840 which replaced the 6 month old previous model.
