hello all i have a samsung Fasinate on the verizon. I see things for an I9000 or something like that, what is that? A model # or what?

if it is mine says Sch-I500 does that mean if i wanted to root my phone i can use the I9000 gingerbread or is that just a hopeful dream.

Yes i am still New to android and really want to learn more about it.

thank you for your help

I believe the I9000 is the GSM version of the Fascinate; or maybe that is the Mesmerize...I'm not sure...anyway it's similar to the Fascinate but is not 100% cross compatible. However, using Mesmerize source, they have released new kernels for the Fascinate with ROM's following soon. (hopefully)

The I9000 is the Samsung Fascinate model in Europe. It is on the GSM network, our Verizon Samsung Fascinate is on the CDMA network. Completely different networks and completely different software. You cannot use any I9000 software on our US Fascinates. Read the stickys over in the Rooting, ROMs, and Hacks section to learn more about your phone and what ROMs are safe to use on it.
