Are you guys going to be using with the HI-FI Quad DAC on the LG V20 to take it to the max audio experience?
I have no clue when it comes to headphones other than the el cheapo Bluetooth LG's, Bose and Beats....that I have managed to always tear apart. I am not a headphone savvy person, so any help is appreciated. Or if there was a thread already please point it out thanks....:p

I'll stick with the free B&O H3 ear buds offer. They might not be the "best," but they will be free and I'm sure they will beat anything I have considering the roughly $150 list price. Lol

One thing that I'm finding out is that they need a break-in period. the B&O that came with the v20 sounded very harsh on the first day. After leaving the DAC on at night for two days, the sound is much warmer and not as harsh. I don't know whether it's the DAC or the headphones or both that needed a break-in.

I'm a bit of a headphone need and am curious how the B&O's perform.

For those willing to spend a bit, the Oppo PM-3s are a great set of closed back over the ear headphones. The are planar magnetic and, despite the $399 price tag, are still reasonable priced for the sound quality. If you get them direct from Oppo you can get a second android specific cable included. I suspect these are going to pair really well with the V20 as they don't need a crazy amount of power to drive.

I'm also a big fan of Shure's in the ear earphones. They have a wide selection of models across a big price range. I've found it critical to get a really good seal to get the best sound, so you need to try out different foam tips on them. They usually ship with a selection to try.

If they are anything like B&O other systems i've heard, they are not going to sound great unless you like classical music. If you are bass heavy, try sometime else.

Anyone have the LG TONE PLATINUM HBS-1100 headphones and try them with the V20? The platinums have a special setup for the G5 to use the special codecs and I'm wondering if they apply to the V20 as well?

the Bluetooth still has aptx which should sound better if you have aptx capable headphones

and the LG Tone are compatible:

and in my case, my Samsung Level U:

Just to clarify, I have no idea if that is good or just hype. I just read a review of a Moto Z Force Droid and they complained that it did not have aptx

So I googled it and found the V20 did have it

If you want quality audio over BT and especially have high res files, you want aptx. If a certain device doesn't have it, the company likely didn't pay the license to add it to their product.

As already stated, the DAC does not play any role when bluetooth headphones are utilized. The DAC built into the headphones would be utilized in this case.

For those looking for the cheapest way to experience "hifi" sound, check out the Grado SR-60e, these will leak sound so others close to you will be able to hear it. If you want a great relatively inexpensive sealed design look at the Sennheiser Momentum 2. Amazon has had some great deals on these in the past.

The B&O headphones in theory should be quite good too, but I have not heard them yet.

I'm just listening to my Bose Q25 now, certainly nothing special, but it sounds good. When I get back from the 8 mile run this morning I'll plug in my Grado GS2000e Statements, Grado SR325i, AKG K712, and Sennheiser HD650.
