Which is better, Motorola Moto X (2014) or Sony Xperia Z3?

Re: Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

size is not an issue for me, my concern is which has the great value for money, spec wise, etc.
is it a great thing to spend another 100$ to have a 3gb of ram, high resolution and 5.2 screen size?
its my first phone to buy, I want a phone to worth every penny. so which one do you prefer? or you can suggest other phones :D
Z3 then.

Re: Sony Xperia Z3 or Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

Such a subjective question. They both fly. Coming from an s5 and having played with pretty much all the high end phones both z3 models are super fast. Faster than other flagship's. In real world performance I doubt you would see any difference between the z3 models. Really comes down to size and screen which is a personal choice.

Re: is the Moto X 2014 Google Play Edition can be use in other countries? GPE and non-GPE difference

I was just wondering if gpe devices can be use in other country, and what is the difference between gpe and non-gpe?

There is no Google Play edition for the Moto X.

Re: is the Moto X 2014 Google Play Edition can be use in other countries? GPE and non-GPE difference

There is no GPE for the 2014 Moto X. Motorola sells an unlocked version called the Pure Edition (aka the T-Mobile version on the US website) which should work anywhere as long as the bands are supported. Take a look at the tech specs and compare them to your country's available bands. If they match, the Pure Edition should work.

Re: is the Moto X 2014 Google Play Edition can be use in other countries? GPE and non-GPE difference

sorry what I meant was the pure edition not gpe. thanks

Difference between the Pure Edition and the other models is that the Pure Edition is not SIM locked, does not come with any carrier bloatware, does not come with any physical carrier branding, and does come with an unlockable bootloader. As Citizen Coyote pointed out, available bands also vary between models.

Re: is the Moto X 2014 Google Play Edition can be use in other countries? GPE and non-GPE difference

Moto G GPE Gets Updated Straight From 4.4.2 To 4.4.4. Moto G is actually missing a few bands for working with T-Mobile. So it's actually better to get the non-GPE edition, and there are tools to convert it TO a GPE-software loaded version.

Re: Moto X vs Xperia Z3. HELP!

If it were me I would choose the z3 in a heartbeat..... But it is for the two reasons you said don't matter to you, battery and water/dust resistance.

Get the moto X and sell me the Z3 😀!

I play with my food

Can I use the Motorola Droid Turbo in other Countries?

I'm referring to Motorola Droid Turbo, the one that verizon has, not the International version. Can i use it in other countries with a different carriers?

Re: Can I use the Motorola Droid Turbo in other Countries?

It should work for voice and text with the proper SIM (one from the country you're in or an international one). You should get 3G data. If the carrier you use in the other country uses bands 2, 3, 4, 7 and/or 13, you should get 4G data.

The phone should come SIM-unlocked, but check it before leaving the US (preferably before buying the phone) - put in an AT&T or TMobile SIM and make sure it doesn't ask you for the unlock code. If it does, ask them to unlock it for you since you'll be in <whatever country you're going to>. Then check it again. (If you don't have a nanoSIM from another carrier, see if a friend does. (Putting their SIM in your phone just lets your phone make calls on their account, it doesn't do anything to the SIM. And all you want to do is make sure the phone accepts the SIM, you don't even want to make a phone call [not until the battery is fully charged the first time].)

Re: Can I use the Motorola Droid Turbo in other Countries?

if you can use other carrier then why did verizon put "verizon exclusive" in their website? just want to know

Because only Verizon sells it. Verizon is not allowed to sell SIM locked phones because of the requirements they had to sign when they bought the 700 MHz spectrum used for their LTE network (the new "XLTE" is a different band but the phone still cannot be locked.)

Any Verizon global phone can be used in other countries using the Verizon supplied SIM (Verizon sells special international roaming plans that reduce their outrageously expensive voice, text, and data roaming rates outside the country that can be turned on and off without affecting your contract end date), or you can buy a local SIM that supplies a local number, voice, messaging and (probably) data plan in the country you are visiting.

I just took my Droid Maxx to Europe last month and used both the supplied Verizon SIM and a locally purchased SIM successfully. The Turbo *should* be the same.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo vs Sony Xperia Z3

I think they are both very good phones. I looked hard at the Z3v but decided to go with the Turbo instead. It depends on what you value in a phone.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo vs Sony Xperia Z3

Prior to owning the original Moto X, I have always coveted Sony phones - which Verizon never had. AFTER owning a Moto X, I am sold on the Moto features (active screen, etc) and secondly, quick updates.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo vs Sony Xperia Z3

well, as a verizon customer who was very much interested in the Z3, the Z3V was an abomination. It's a Z2 body with verizon bastardization. It's not as nice or thin as the Z3 sold by AT&T or T-Mobile.

The one I really wanted was the Z3 compact. That's the even better phone. I was praying that one would be a Verizon phone but then I saw the Droid Turbo and it was over.

Had the Turbo not come out, i would have likely not purchased anything and waited until the HTC One9 to see if the camera was fixed or to see what the Galaxy S6 looked like.... but really prayed for Verizon to grab the Z3 compact.

This. I was crushed when the reality of the Z3v settled in. Thank goodness the Turbo was announced in this time frame. I would still prefer the form factor of a real Z3, but I am consoled by the extra beef of the Turbo CPU, GPU, and battery.

You and I were in the same boat and obviously in the market at the same time.

I was very unsure about going to gigantic phones. I see a Note 4 which is a great device and i just can't get over the size. Yes, I wear jeans that fit and that aint fitting in my front pocket. So. while i was looking at the end of my Verizon two year contract date in November for my Galaxy S3, i was trying to figure out what i wanted and flirting with the idea of the bigger phones...

Galaxy S5, wasnt interested. HTC One M8, that camera made is a non-starter. Six months ago I was stoked for the LG G3 but then my excitement waned due to size and end users remarks over time.

I felt the Z3 was going to be the phone for me due to the reviews from overseas. I really wanted the compact as most reviewers feel it's the better phone overall. However, even though the Z3 is bigger, i thought i might bite the bullet and go with the bigger phone if that was all Verizon was going to offer... Then they rolled out the Z3V and it was nothing but Verizon sharting their Hanes.

Luckily, within a few weeks, leaks of the Droid Turbo came out. I had never looked at a Motorola phone in my life. They never interested me. It's the perfect size, i love the near stock android experience...The camera has been more than good enough for me and will get better with Lollipop.

That said, i think the Z3 compact is a gem and Verizon should bring it to the network without farking with it.

Re: Motorola Droid Turbo vs Sony Xperia Z3

+1. This is my first Motorola phone as well, and with my recent Moto 360 (purchased at release), I'm now a Moto-fan.
