Which launcher are you using?

No, you should be ok. If you decide that you want to go back to sense all you have to do is uninstall the launcher. Sense will remain the same and you shouldn't experience any issues.

Thanks for the info. Have another question.

If I switch to a different launcher, and later decide to switch back to sense, will my screens and settings on sense be the same as they were before I installed the new launcher, or will all the old data be gone so I'll have to reconfigure all my screens again?

Well if you download another launcher when you press the home button a pop up will appear asking if you want to use sense or the launcher you download. You can leave the sense launcher how you have it configured and just select launcher of your choice. However both launchers will be running in the background. I usually just take a screen shot of all screens so I remember how they are configured. Then I only leave the one homescreen and use the other launcher. I Hope I'm making sense. Lol.

I was sold on Apex. Love the scrollable dock. Love hiding the status bar. Love overlapping widgets. Overlapping widgets made the creation of the following clock possible:

I'm wondering if there is a way to switch between launchers quickly? I have it set up right now with nova launcher and htc sense acting as different "scenes" depending on how I am using my phone.

I downloaded "Home Control", but it adds a few more steps than I was hoping. It seems like most of the other Launcher Switchers in the app store are several years old.

Good evening all -

So, hit me, what launcher are using?

A while back I used ADW Launcher on my Skyrocket and Inspire, but not tried it on The One X, yet.

Give GO Launcher EX a shot. Highly customizable and free! And GO SMS Pro is "da bomb". Also free.

Apex Pro.

Running a 5x6 grid to actually use the screen real estate

Awesome! I like that. Where did you get the wallpaper? It's stock black right? The clock ls beast to. Does that happen to be Mclock? Sorry for all the questions lol

Actually, you made quite a lot of sense. Thanks.

Another question: After I install 3rd party launcher and choose to use it, will the sense launcher be deleted or just idle? You said both launchers would be running in the background. Why would they both be running if I choose the new launcher? Is it possible to switch back and forth?

Ok good lol It actually will not be uninstalled but will be idle. If you press home and select sense launcher, it will be how you left the sense launcher. Intact. You can switch back and forth from sense to the 3rd party launcher.

Hi neoenigma,

I saw your post and your UCCW clock totally blew me away. I have never seen a clock look so good. I also like the widget icons and the wall paper you use as well!. I am new to android, got my HTX One X yesterday, had an iPhone before. Could you share the clock, wallpaper and the name of the battery widget. You must feel I am really being really cheeky, but I would really like my phone looking like your screen shot.
Thanks Mark

Okay, I think I will install Golauncher or Apex soon.

1) After I install the new launcher, you said that I will have to press the home button to select which launcher I want to use. Does this mean that the home button will no longer have the function of taking me to the home screen?

2) If I use Golauncher or Apex, can i keep the Sense unlock screen? I actually like it.

Thanks.

I've looked at a few, in particular ADW Launcher (since I've used this one previously), but I'm sticking with the default for now ;)

1) after you install another launcher, you have to set the default. It will ask you which you want to use the first time you go back to the home screen after install.

2) the sense lock screen remains. Its perfect for me. I normally have my icons setup like this: phone, Gmail, app drawer, messaging, browser. Because the lock screen is based on the home screen icons I had to choose whether to leave the camera off the lockscreen or the browser off the home screen. I've installed Apex so now I get both as the Apex launcher does not affect the lock screen at all.

Get Home Switcher or a similar app, makes it easy to switch launchers. On my NS4G I have used about every launcher there is, always end up going back to stock because of speed or various issues. Just last night added the free version of Apex, it's really nice. For folders I added and cropped some pics, a nice way to look at folders. Showed my wife, think she may get me to add it to her HOX.

I have a question... I've been using Go Launcher EX, because I'm a big fan of Go Locker. I've decided though that I'd like to go with the original unlock screen for a bit. My question is, how do I disable Go Locker? I know I can switch back & forth between Sense & Launcher, but don't see any option for turning off Locker.

Go to where you can manage your apps. Find Go Launcher and hit it. About halfway down you'll see an option that says Launch by Default with a Clear Defaults button. Hit that button and when you go back to your home screen it will ask you which launcher.

Thanks.

I gave that a try, and everything was exactly where you said. Unfortunately the 'Clear Defaults' button is greyed out, and not active. Even Force Stop doesn't prevent it from working. I simply uninstalled it, just to return to the original for awhile, and have gone back.
