Which phone are you switching from and why?

Comming from a Sprint palm 800w. I had this for 2 years im done with windows mobile. I am so ready for a new device to tinker with. Looking at the Shift & EVO right now unless somthing uber comes out on another carrier that i HAVE to have.

Palm Pre (on Sprint).

Switching to either the Epic or EVO shift - need to move from webOS (as much as I like it) to Android because the big name Medical & Healthcare apps are abandoning webOS in droves.

Choose the EVO jimjeffcoat... you won't regret it buddy.

Ps. Join me in the lounge for a drink to your transition. :)

switching from the hero to the shift....i cant stand how laggy the hero is even rooted with froyo on CM6 and i miss having a real keyboard....plus finally having full flash will be like a whole new browser experience for me...and of course 4g speed (when i have my charger nearby at least lol)

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking about switching out of an Optimus to this one. Does anyone know if the screen is made out of glass? I don't think I've seen this specified any where. Thanks.

Palm Pre. WebOs is great but the app support is not. The Pre is slow, no expandable memory, small screen, poor build quality, and OLD. Want to try Android. Picked up the Evo Shift tonoght, don't think I will be looking back..

^^^^^^ Ditto for me too. I actually had my Hero lag so bad trying to answer a call the other day that even though I answered it on the first ring, the call had gone to voicemail by the time the screen finally unlocked and the phone woke up enough to answer the call. LOL. Plus, I'm hoping the rumors of significantly improved battery life are true.

What boggles my mind is that Sprint is still selling the Hero for $150, exactly the same price as the Shift. Let me see... which one is the better deal?

oh man..if my phone ever lagged out while trying to answer a PHONE CALL it would become target practice the first time it did it.

My little bro will be getting this phone. He is switching from t-mobile and leaving that horrible phone of a Blackberry.

Wow, how did you make it that long? I loved my 800w, but had to give it up a long time ago and went to TP2 before my recent EVO.

How much would you love to have the 800w keyboard on a new fast, stable device with a decent screen size like 3.8 or something? I loved that keyboard, but mine fell into a buggy death spiral. The other great thing about it was that it seem indestructible and you never needed a case - almost like it had a built-in case. I wish HTC would use that design as a starting point and make some new FF qwerty designs with Android.

Currently have a touch pro 2. Deciding between the Epic and the Evo Shift.

Definitely try to EVO Shift first would be my advice. You'll likely love it after coming from a TP2 and HTC does a better job of updating software than Sammy does. Not a Sammy fan, as many seem to agree.

wow, alot of people coming from the palm pre.

what ashame, such a nice UI/hackable OS and yet such crappy support/updates.

buh bye palm.

My girlfriend and I both swapped out our Palm Pres for the Shift. Love webOS, but after going through so many phones and the lack of the interest from the world with regard to its app store, it was time to move on. They had a good home-brew community that I used quite frequently (lots of patches and I was OC'd to 1ghz), but the timing and this device made it feel right.

So far, I am in love. HTC has given me solid hardware and Android (along with this great community) will allow me to meld it to exactly what will fit my needs. I've been poking around here for about six months, so it was really only a matter of time.

nice! same with me any my g/f, both got the pre, and now will both switch to the shift I assume. Its good to hear that there is similar patching/hacking on the andriod os too.

I am still have my OG Evo, but I took back my wife's LG Optimus and got her the Evo Shift. Now she is part of the family :)

I switched from a Hero. It seemed like the lag was getting more noticeable on my Hero, and, I was ready for new bells and whistles. So far I am loving my Shift.
