Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

So who preordered all the Elites? Seems like I'm the only one here interested in it. I'd really like to see one in person first since I have some reservations about the lower ppi of the larger screen at the same resolution as the OV.

I'm not a fan of the One V's non-removable battery (and the "chin" does nothing for me either). The EVO is nice, but looks like it will be out of my price range, and Wimax/4G does nothing for me where I live.

I agree if your talking about just saving money on 4G handset and you don't get it in your area and the Elite looks like a nice and practical handset for 3G.. The eye's need a bigger screen and 4.3 inche screen the Evo has over the Elite's 3.5 inch screen is big imo..

If the compactness of the elite is of no benefit and it's not now I don't work anymore why go there.. I go to the Evo because the Trimuph is just not worth it and maybe one day I will drive thru a 4G area and be able to use it.. (Not to mention the huge added power and internal storage over the OE)

Agreed, but I just can't see spending ~$300 on a phone, and I'm never going to get their Wimax 4G here anyway.

This is what I'm thinking. If this phone was available when I bought my OV I would have sprung for it immediately, but at the time the only other option was the Slider, which did nothing for me considering the price difference.

Yepper I'd own it if not for the Evo V and the ROM support it gets vs the OE.. The OE's 10 estimated days long battery life on standby jez wish the OV could do that trick.. The EVO can't.. The OE is worth owning imo and I'd take the plunge if expense were a big factor today with no hope of 4G.. Who knows tomorrow and that's where my nose is at..

The screen size is a much bugger change than people realize. The OV screen looks puny to my Ego 4g.Then you have the cpu...

I hate the idea of carrying a $300 phone, it scares me, but at the same time, I now trust myself to not destroy it right away.

Agreed, the screen size and CPU are my biggest reasons for upgrading. I can't wait to stream Netflix or Hulu without the lag.

Well, simply buy a case and screen protector.

If my phone needs a case THAT BAD, then I don't need the phone. That is one of my bigger gripes with the Iphone. You get a nice slim phone then strap on some bulky protector.. NO. I prefer a slim phone so cases are a no go with me. Give me a phone that can take a little damage, otherwise forget it.

The Evo 4g and 3d (and some other Evos) all have a solid aluminum frame. You really have to drop them a long ways onto a very hard surface to damage them.

In a contest between the Evo 4g and the OV, the OV might win, but only because plastic can deform and return to shape. Flex can allow screens to crack and boards to snap, while aluminum stops that, once it gives, bad things can also happen. In either case, it would take a heck of a drop to actually break either one (except screen of course). My brother has dropped his Evo 4G repeatedly from 9 feet (unprotected) onto tile and concrete and only suffered blemishes (the battery doesn't even pop out like on the OV), that's strong enough for me. I can't imagine the Evo 3d being too much more delicate, and possibly being even stronger.

I my thinking of buying the evo v, yes is a little costy but I got to say the developers are porting really nice roms ( they manage to cross the HTC one s ics sense to the evo and of course ics) besides not having 4g in my area I am not that worry bc I bearly use 3g . If I get to get it iam stuck with it until next year. I will think about it. :sly:

Thankkkkk youuuuu!!! I can't stand how people put cases on phones, especially iphones. They take prid in how pretty the phones are and then they cover it up, it makes no sense. I'm glad to here that the 3d can take some banging like the OV.

Especially when you see like 95% of iphone peoples with the giant Otterbox Defender cases.

It's like, where's the iphone? My thing is that if you know your clumsy, then sure buy a case. All I need is a screen guard, because I dont need my screen getting messed up.

(btw, what kind of screen does the EVO have?)

Yep that is my soon to be reality.. On to the cases.. Some call it clumsy but there are those of us who don't do powder puff life and have chips and chunks taken out of everything you will ever introduce into our version of the world.. lol fine if I'm clumsy your a pansy.. No case means no phone in my world..

xD, I was mainly referring to the types of cases (like the Otterbox ones) that take away from the normal "feeling" if you will, of the phone itself. My ov has been dropped (even got mad at it when it has it's random restarts and throw it into a wall) and such, but I get ya.

For many, the Iphone is their first smart phone and they are scared of breaking it. A lot are also owned by women who like to accessorize.

The biggest thing though, and I've talked a bit a bout this before actually...
Is that Iphones are actually quite delicate, you almost don't dare run one without a case. Plus, since you can't customize the inside that much, and the Iphone is a lot about image, and you have to have one, the case becomes as much about showing off as the fact that you have an Iphone.

Iphone users (in my experience) tend to be more focused on the fact that they have an Iphone, and how it looks on the outside and are quite willing to let you see it. One customer took his wife to the Apple store to upgrade her Treo and had to make sure she got the "royal Iphone treatment", them handling contacts, picking out and letting them install the cover and screen protector... Whatever.

Android users on the other hand customize the inside, and have less loyalty to their phones ("it's a phone...") and are less likely to let you mess with it. They tend to prefer Android, but if the phone breaks or a better model comes out, they don't mind switching to another model, but they are usually not rabid like Iphone users are for each new phone (Blackberry users are the most content with their phones, they like it and don't want to change).

Gonna miss the OV on that if I ever give it up.. Dang thing will still work after mankind has vanished.. Little dude is tuff.. I envy anyone that can wonder the planet without a case.. Do they make a case with a sliding cover to protect the twin cams as that should be big and ugly lmao!!
Looked and Otterbox looks like the only case I could use and it looks to rigid and breakable if snagged (countless holsters lost to this one) as I bet there is some clip or lock just begging to get destroyed..
And your right it is ugly..
Jez am I gonna have to invent something else for mankind?? Seemed like a no brainer with 2 cameras to mess up on the out of sight,, out of mind part of the Evo V for those of us who throw ourselves at life and have the scars to prove it.. Big target..

Well I don't usually get a bulky case. Most of my cases are TPU gel. It does the job just as well. All the phone I had from VM are scratch and scuff free.

Actually , My OV looks good enough to sell in excellent condition. So is my Motorola Triumph, I can sell both and pay for the next phone. BUT EIN may not be good after.

Well, I just ordered an Elite. Misguided? Maybe. We'll see when it gets here. It's not like me to buy something the day it comes out, so hopefully I won't see blowout deals on it in the next few weeks (VM has a $35 account credit deal, but only for new accounts). $149.99 already seems like a pretty rock-bottom price considering the Slider is still $179.99 on VM's site.

I'll keep the OV around for the 30 day return period, then it's going on ebay I guess, unless someone here wants it.
