Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

It's got 1gb internal memory and then 2gb that shows as internal storage. Stock rom lets you move from internal memory to internal storage but not to external sd

In file manager the 2gb shows as the sdcard and your external sd shows as a folder within that.

Target has the elite and evo now. No more triumph or OV and there is an empty spot right in the middle of it all, I'm guessing the one v will go there. They just reset the whole section locally and they now have more pre paid than post paid phones now

Huh - well how would it handle something like Copilot - where I store a few gigs of maps on my SD card - can it handle that switch or will I have to have those maps in the customary folder at the root level of the "external" internal additional memory?

Looking to update at some point, but holding out as long as possible. I can make due with the OV just fine "til the wheels fall off" as my profile says, but my wife is getting tired of low mem and other market errors and I am getting tired of trying to fix them. Was thinking of getting the Elite for her, but if I have to exlain this whole internal external memory with her sd card being a folder within - seems like a non-starter for me.

You know what's awesome about upgrading phones?

1. Official cm9 support.

2. Seeing the phrase "HDPI only" doesn't piss me off anymore. :)

I don't quite fully understand this, why differentiate between internal memory and storage?

Apps can still store to the Sdcard itself, I THINK, and media still goes there.
It will likely depend on how the app references the storage.

Evo V has 1.1gig, but anything moved goes to the sdcard. Once we get dalvik, I suspect we may see as much as 2-3gigs internal.. maybe, however no one has bothered because very few has needed it, even on the Evo 3d.

The Elite however, I could see there being a problem seeing as you are almost saddled with a 2gig sdcard that you can't upgrade. It's probably not an issue for most people, and if it becomes one, I can see the devs finding easy ways around it, but I don't like the way it functions.

Besides, I love my Evo V. The Elite may be an upgrade to the OV, but I'll pass. I'm quite happy with mine.

One nice thing is that the quality of your sdcard won't effect speeds as much, but I agree it's a silly system.

Wow - now is the time on Android Central where I eat my words.

Turns out although my wife and I are usually in lockstep financially - she decided to go out and get me an evo V for fathers day - which is nuts as we normally only spend about $25 on Father's Day - but she knew I was getting frustrated running out of space all the time. I had mentioned a week or so ago that I was getting annoyed enough that I was almost ready to spend some money. She apparently agreed. Love that woman.

She gave it to me a day early as I am at the firehouse today on shift. Looks like I am moving on up to the Evo side - to a deluxe smartphone in the sky - apparently we finally got our piece of the pie (sorry couldnt help myself)

But wanted to say thanks for all the help and devs on here - made the OV a great little under dog contender.

Looks like my dreams of complete debt freedom as noted in above posts are set back by $300 - but I guess it's worth it - this phone is pretty sweet. Feel like this thing is a guilty pleasure - like a good cigar or way too expensive ice cream - hate seeing the money go but no doubt it is worth it. We finished paying off our last vehicle loan early this month anyway - so I will just call this a congratulatory purchase. No better way to celebrate financial discipline than by blowing some cash - LOL

I say quite often that getting something just because you want it is not a bad reason at all. Getting something then rationalizing how you "need" it is not reasonable though. Did I want? Yes. Did I need? No. Guess I will just have to be extra frugal elsewhere. I am good with that.

A little debt won't kill you, live a little once in a while. :)

From the sounds of it, you guys are doing quite well, a splurge now and then won't hurt.

I agree sorry if I turn this into my own little debt free forum but I figured people on virgin mobile are there because there frugal in the first place and they would probably be kindred spirits.

in the end I'm very glad that she chose the evo over the optimus elite

No worries. :)
There are lots of reasons to use Virgin, ranging from all they can afford, to simply using it because it's the best service for us.

Personally, any other carrier would almost double my bill and I would get nothing extra I can use. Especially now that I have a good phone.

If I learned anything from buying our phones last year, it was this.

Buy your phones on Black Friday.

It is ridiculous how good of a deal you can get. My wife's phone was $50(optimus v, they were going for $150 regular at the time) on Black Friday.

They had triumph's as well for <$150 on black friday. I plan on trying to grab an Evo on black friday. Hopefully they have a great deal on them.

Bought a slider last black Friday and resold on eBay for almost $100 profit when I didn't like it. I kind of wonder if they will do it this year with all the great and expensive phones they are adding. Have a hard time seeing the one v or the iPhone for half off - but heres for hoping.

I don't see the Iphone doing that, but the Evo is a possibility. I definitely hope it does. Probably the only way I will upgrade phones.
