Which phone are you upgrading to (if you are)?

I went from being hopeful about the Optimus Black coming at the end of 2011. I resigned to waiting even longer when all the OV spinoffs showed up on their site. I was skeptical when the 4" screen rumors began. I was excited when the Evo was rumored and then somewhat confirmed. I was annoyed the release date was so far away. But posting then pulling the ad, I, I, I am at my wits end with this waiting!

lol, hang in there. just remember 2-3 months ago where we thought VM was destined to only see crappy chinese knock offs. now we're finally getting a true high end smartphone.

and it could be any day now. even though the official release date is the 31st, all it takes is for one retailer to push the green button.

Yeah I know, but venting helps pass the time. Called the RadioShack that sold me my OV about a week early and they said they get their new stock of items on Thursdays, so the 24th seems to be the earliest possible time for my area.

Bug the store employees for shipment dates. Shipments, not just for the phone, they may not know it's coming, but you do!

So long as Target gets them, based on past experiences, they should have them any day. This doesn't mean they will necessarily be on the shelf, but they should be seeing them arrive any day now. The Target here usually gets shipments on Tuesday and Thursday. I think I got my OV the wed. before release, which was the next friday, so about about 9 days early, and I got it within 24 hours of coming off the truck. About that early was when we say the Elite as well. Tomorrow would be about right on schedule.


If you live in a big city, I would call outlying metro areas, you will probably have better luck. That worked for my OV, and I know when the Wii, Xbox360 and Ps3 came out, our local Walmart actually had the when others were sold out. Remember each store will only get 2 or 3 of these phones, and in a big city, it doesn't take long for people to grab them. Metro stores have less people raiding them and many of the people living there, go into the city to shop.

Target gets their virgin mobile phones via ups, and its usually 2to 3 days a week. So call after 2pm every day. I was the electronics team leader there for a while, and I still have contacts there

I stopped by my local walmart yesterday to scope out the wireless department. The personel had no idea what I was talking about lol. 4g for vm, they asked. I did check out the evo and the evo 3d. The 3d's screen is bigger, but was selling for less then the regular. I messed around w them for a bit. Very, very nice looking phones. I have a feeling I'll cave eventually
Edit: They were the Sprint versions by the way.

The girl at that answered at Radio Shack said in a surprised but excited tone "VIRGIN IS COMING OUT WITH AN EVO 3D!!!!!?????" so I'm 100% sure that there will be at least one less in stock when they do arrive and depending on her circle of friends, the first few might already have owners.

Although it is dumb since the phone is still ~10 days away plus the chance that they are out of stock and my payment is due at midnight. I want the phone, but in the back of my head have the BYOD T-mobile option, so would hate to give VM a free $10 and lose the option of handing over my $25 plan to a family member.

yep, that's what i did. luckily, i was in a situation where i was downgrading from 1200 minutes to 300 minutes.

I'm sure it was a test you witnessed to make sure RS site is working properly and I was glad to see it finally.... Man the more I read on this handset the more I like it.. It has made it's way out of Sprints inventory now and is all VM!! So soon my friend very soon I think we will be leaving reviews on it.. Good one's I hope They are playing with the towers here now I think as my OV got crazy fast then crazy slow on data for a while today..

See if you can get an inventory number.

The person I just talked to said that that you can't get the dpci number without the UPC, they used to not be able to look up the item until its received for the first time. They don't want people knowing when date sensitive items arrive in advanced. I haven't worked there in 8 years so i don't know if their system has changed. But the dpci (department class incentory) number is what you want. I only know one person still there that actually knows how to use the computer to look stuff up. He lives in a different city now but I'm friends with him on Facebook, I will shoot him a message.
