Which phone should a BlackBerry user get?

Took me about 20 minutes to get used to it. Now it seems perfectly natural.
With the "Konck On" feature, I find I don't need to hit the power button much at all. Volume adjusting is not a problem.
The rear buttons are naturally at your index finger when holding it, either hand, so it is all right there at your fingertips. Literally. ;)

Mav.

Sounds like I am going to have to head back to the store and play with it some more then. The "Knock On" feature was actually something that I didn't use or try to use, completely forgot about it :( . I think I'll have to give it a second thought for sure. Thank you

Just putting it out there...

...If you're carrier is not offering you a phone you want (or thought you wanted), wouldn't it be better to switch to carriers?

LOL Well I do want the BB Z30 but as Sprint appears to not be carrying it my mindset has changed (maybe for the better?), and that is why I stated that I "thought" I wanted it...Sprint is who really changed my mind for me ;)

As for the Q10, I have become accustomed to an all touchscreen phone and would like to stay that way. As much of a fan of BB I am, I don't think I can go back to a physical qwerty keyboard device (I know, sounds funny right?)...it just doesn't suit my needs anymore. One of the other reasons why I am probably going to (finally) make the switch.

It's interesting that you are predominantly a BlackBerry user but are accustomed to an all touch screen phone. Knowing what phone you are currently using does make a difference when suggesting "What phone should a BlackBerry user get?". What BlackBerry Sprint phone is it that you are accustomed to using that is all touch screen?

To clarify a little more...I say I am predominantly a BB user because I enjoy the OS. I used to use the phjysical keyboard style BB's (had a 8530 and a 9930, both physical keyboard phones) but for the last two years I have been on the 9850 BB Torch. It's old and antiquated :( and I am in need of an upgrade for sure. I like Android and am not very fond of iOS at all so this is what is pushing this decision to make the change. Does that help?

In a perfect world, YES. Unfortunately, I have multiple lines on a family plan and they all have different contract dates. To switch carriers would mean paying high fees (ETF) that I would rather not do.

I'm similar to you, primarily a BlackBerry user (Z10 being the latest), though I've dabbled with iOS and Android in the past on secondary devices. Been curious about how I would like Android as a daily driver smartphone, so I decided recently to give it a shot. My shortlist of devices was similar to yours, with exception of the Note 3. A phone of that size just does not interest me. I ended up getting a Nexus 5 over the others for a few reasons:

Value for dollar/price - I'm buying this phone off contract, so to be able to get what is considered top end hardware for the price of a mid-range device was very appealing to me.

OS - Having a Nexus device will guarantee you get OS updates for a certain amount of time. No waiting around for a manufacturer to get around to it, or not do anything at all. Also, it's stock Android, which I'm familiar with from owning a Nexus 7. No bloat or OEM interface layers, just Android as Google intended.

LED light - Yes I know this sounds silly. But you're a BlackBerry user too, so you know why this is important to me :)

Which BlackBerry device are you using right now? I can probably give you some thoughts as to how the Nexus 5 compares to it...

I agree with your statement about value for price with the Nexus 5. Only thing is I am going to buy ON contract (I want my discount and don't want to be paying for a subsidy that I am NOT using). Sprint is only offering the 16gb version on contract. To get the 32gb version I would have to pay full retail. Now, if the phone is worth it then by all means I am willing to have to shell out the extra bucks even though it IS out of my price range that I would want to pay. Only thing with that is from what I am hearing and reading, the Moto X is almost a Nexus device. If I can save myself money and still get something close to that I think it would be getting more bang for my buck that way...am I wrong?

OS - again, from what I am hearing/reading, the Moto X is getting the updates just as fast (if not faster I think I might have read) than the Nexus 5.

LED light - OMG I WILL miss this lol but I think any choice I make will have a learning curve anyway. I think I can get used to it. I hope I can get used to it

I am currently using a 9850, the all touchscreen Torch.

I know it is really starting to sound like I am favoring the Moto X (Maybe I am ;) ) but I am loving this dialog and trust me, you are all giving me great things to think about and consider. That LG G2 is less than $50 right now at Sprint and that is definitely looking sexier at that price point lol

Keep it up! Anyone using anything I haven't listed? Any other ideas that I'm possibly overlooking? Let me know!

I think you really can't go wrong with any of those devices.
Note 3. If you can get over the size, this is literally the king of the hill from a purely specs standpoint. The added features samsung has added, along with the s pen make it a great productivity tool.
moto x- near stock android, compact size (being on sprint and lucky enough to get a nexus for me personally I would throw out the moto x for the nexus if you want stock android, top of the line specs and always getting updates first)- yes the moto x got kit kit already but who knows if this will continue as long down the road as with the nexus.
HTC one is a great phone, which many still consider one of the best smartphones of the year. Camera is a little iffy in some cases, but low light it shines.
G2 is essentially a beefed up nexus, and you also get LG's UI.

In all honesty, coming from a BB you can't go wrong with any of the above mentioned android devices. You also may want to look and see, some of them have "starter mode" which makes it a little simpler to get your feet wet with android first and then jump into it. Hope this helps.

HTC One comes highly recommended from me! But if I was gonna sign my life away today I'd just get a Nexus 5 off contract and use that. Updates come quick and that is important to me! HTC is doing a great job with their updates though. Something to keep in mind I guess.

The wonderful fact is, you actually can't go wrong with any of these. :)
I would suggest if you go with the Note 3, purchase an s-view flip case (improves portability and you can answer calls by swiping screen etc), and get Nova Launcher Prime from Play Store if you don't like the Samsung iu.

Alright!! Android for dummies (me) lol I'll look into that thanks!!

Well since I AM signing my life away on a contract I don't think the Nexus is for me only because the only one Sprint offers on contract is the 16GB...don't think that is enough space...what do you think about that?

Thank you, I will look into that. My just download Nova Launcher on the demo unit in Sprint and see how it is ;) (perks of going to a small town Sprint where they are just happy ANYONE walked through the door, they pretty much let me do what I want on the phones lol)

I think 16 gigs is enough for me so far. But I would spent the extra off contract for the 32gig. I know Sprint offers the 32 gig if you call them directly. Not sure on pricing though.

Well now I need to make a phone call...thanks, I'll look into it :)

Sooooo, did you get your Moto X?

LOL I'm pretty sure that is what I have decided on but I think I am going to hold off until right after the new year...let some of this Christmas madness get behind me lol:confused:

Also gives me just a bit more time to do some mini research and see if there any other crazy sales that happen

After Christmas deals are usually pretty good, so that might not be too bad a strategy. If you're gonna wait into the new year, there's going to be more phones being teased (Galaxy S5, next gen HTC One, etc.), though most of them may not come out until sometime in the spring.

Or, there is also the option of getting the Moto G unlocked. Think of it as the Moto X's younger brother. It's right in your price range, and if you do find a better phone deal on your carrier, then you'll have two phones. :) Even another option is to get a used Nexus 4. It sits roughly between the Moto G and Moto X in specs, gets the same updates as the Nexus 5 and Moto X, and could be had for under $200. The issue you'd run into with the G or N4 is the internal space (16 GB max), and neither have LTE (HSPA+ at the fastest).

If u gonna go moto get the x. I look at the g as the beginner phone for an Android rookie.
