Which Resolution For Pictures

Which resolution does everybody use for the majority of their pictures - 12 or 20 megapixels?

I ask because the 20MP doesn't allow you to zoom. I'm not a great or super knowledgeable photographer but would assume 20MP is the way to go but given some of the options aren't available, maybe 12MP is the one I should be using?

I guess it depends, but right now, mine is set to 20MP. Even if I had the ability to zoom, I usually dont use the zoom feature. That's just me.

Size of high res photos is huge, not needed for casual photo sharing.

It really depends if you going to print them or not

Also some modes, such as HDR, are not available in the 20MP mode.

Don't forget only the black&white sensor is 20MP... The color one is 12MP. So I suppose (but I'm not sure) there has to be some quality loss with color picture at 20MP. Any ideas? Am I right?
