You will probably find a large number of people running the Community ROM. Several devs got together and each lent their own area of expertise in all contributing to the creation of the ROM:

+1 on the KangBang... aka com rom. Get ur ota's, put file on ur sd card, odin clockwork, boot straight into recovery and flash. Done. Root is included in rom file

So is there no need to worry about what color my CWM is guys? Been noticing from reading around that seems to matter on some ROMS but looks like an issue with older builds.

Both CWM that work for the Fascinate are red. Do not use rom manager with the Fascinate. It does not work with the Fascinate right now. Neither does the orange CWM 3.0.0.8 you would get if you clicked on flash clockworkmod recovery in rom manager. You can either use CWM 2.5.1.x which is found here CWM-recovery-all-3-30-fix and will flash either older Amend script or newer Edify script. Or you can get CWM 3.0.2.7 from times_infinity here CWM 3.0.2.7, which will flash only Edify script. Eventually all the developers are moving to Edify script and when that happens all you will need is CWM 3.0.2.7.

I tried the com rom, but it wasn't my thing.
I ended up choosing the EvilFascination rom. I just love the black and red theme of the overall rom.

Yep. Just don't forget to wipe data, cache, and dalvik first. Then, after install and full boot, wipe data again to apply adrynalyne's GPS settings

OMFG!!! Hi, sorry to barge in... been running myself ragged trying to get a straight set of instructions on how to install anybody's anything... and the OP's are never complete... there's always some missing instruction 1000 posts down... So aside from this addition are there any other tips you could give to get the rom to work correctly? cause I'm having a hell of a time right now.

"a hell of a time" is not an issue. details fix problems, complaints dont. give more details.

Thanks for the part about wiping the second time to apply adrynalyne's GPS settings! My phone is working flawlessly :D

here are some tips:

- as mike said... be specific, thats the only way you will get help
- OP's are always pretty complete.... however, you need to understand all the basics first, which according to your post, you don't (its also a bit insulting to the OP by saying their instructions are incomplete)
- read these, get familiar with them ALL.... it will answer most if not all of your questions

We all started from square one... there is no "quick" way to to get there... you have to put in the time.

Good luck

Let me start by saying these remarks in no way are posted to show any disrespect, on the contrary I have HUGE respect for everyone that makes these mods.

That being said, I also tried comm rom, very nice, the only turn offs for me were the ginormous "TSM" (or whatever it was) plastered on the spacebar when typing in either landscape or portrait and, although minor, the lack of conversation bubble when using messaging service.

Currently running evil fascination, which I love. It also has a minor hangup (my opinion only), you can't download and use voltage control with it. I even tried loading the same kernel from comm rom to see if that helps...it doesn't.

If anyone knows fixes to these two, I'd be appreciative for the inside scoop. Thanks in advance.

The bottom line is that there are a lot of devs out there that are doing a rocking job making roms. try them out, you can always change it to a different one if you don't like it.

Can't help you out with the second part, probably best to post that question in the EF thread.

As far as the swype keyboard, there is a zip file patch in the add-ons section of the OP in the Comm ROM thread which gives you a different looking swype:
