Which Screen Protector?

I may go with a liquid one. these curved screens have been bad news for finding a good screen protector. I tried 4-5 different ones on my 2XL and eventually gave up (winding up in some large scratches). But I've heard the liquid ones do a pretty decent job.

I talked with a guy at the nearest store about them, they run $50 where I am. I was wondering about the liquid getting into the speaker openings, but he said it's nothing to worry about. I just dont want to ruin the speakers on this either and $50 is a bit steep.

With it having Gorilla Glass 5, do you still need a screen protector or does GG itself good enough for normal wear?

Screen protectors haven't been needed for years. GG is very scratch resistant, my 2xl screen is pristine after a year of naked use. I'm doing the same as I write this post on my 3xl.

Yeah, they're not cheap. But I think if you go to UbreakIfix and have them apply theirs, it comes with a warranty of sorts. I remember a guy got one for his 2XL and believe said that if his screen broke or scratched they'd replace it for free.

So last year while going through the same experience of TGSP's that don't fit, I ran across a Company that used paint protection film and custom plotting for most devices. It has been on my P2XL for about 9 months, and has done really well.

I checked with them on P3XL release day, and they did not have a pattern yet.

I am happy to say, I got an email today that they now have the pattern. I will be getting it installed on Saturday from my local shop.

Came today. I'm use to the Tempered Glass that uses a wet solution to put on and slide the bubbles out. This was dry applied. Use the hot shower technique, then included cloth wipe, followed by alcohol wipe then dry wipe. This has large hold tabs that allow you to hover over the phone and place down perfectly.

Applied as perfect as I've seen, clean solidly attached edges. Dust specks seen are on the top.

Congrats for finding one that worked, but it must have been the only one they had (j/k), it now shows "Currently unavailable".

The Verizon version is shockingly bad! Never had a problem with any other phones until today. I'm tempted to buy a Pixel 3 version and use it on my XL to keep it protected until something that actually works comes out. I tried my OG Pixel XL protector but it blurs the front facing camera.

My Verizon one did the same as well. I ordered a 3 pack of Mr Shield from Amazon, so I loved the Verizon one and put it on. Still has a lift, but less. Verizon seemed to have about 1/8" lift from edges, the Mr Shield is about 1/16", but it doesn't fully cover the display either. It appears the 3 has more of a curved edge than the Pixel 2 had. These OEMs are starting to tick me off.

I doubt it'll be very long before the lifted edges will start to work their way inwards. I had this problem with the Pixel 2, it would typically take a couple months before I started to see bubbles underneath, but I fear it will be worse on the Pixel 3. Arrgh!

The one I replaced the Verizon one with goes over both front cameras, the only cutouts are for the speakers (I have a regular Pixel 3 BTW). But I've had protectors like that in the past and never had issues with them.

That's a different screen protector. The one he linked is partial coverage and case friendly. The one you linked is full coverage (almost definitely won't work with a case) and has a dot matrix (you'll see a grid of dots across the screen with it in place). I had one of those kind last year and it wouldn't work with a case so I had to go to one that covered less but worked with cases.

I put a Spigen TGSP on my Pixel 2 last year, but it didn't hold very well. It gets 2-3 months before bubbles start to form under the glass, which is where it's at right now. Anyways, you mentioned liquid costing screen protectors before. Well I was on Spigen's site looking to see what/if the had anything, and saw this:

It's a self applied liquid screen protector. Goes for $25. I'm thinking of trying it out on my Pixel 2. But I thought I'd post it for anyone who's interested. Just wonder if you're able to move it down the road if need be.

The amFilm works great and includes 3 tempered glass partial coverage. I screwed the first because i made it uneven hanging slightly over one side of the speaker. It probably would have been fine like that but I'm just OCD like that. I tried adjusting it but that didn't work out too well. Second try was a charm, the key was to install it while the shower was running a while. I I was able to install it with the case on the phone actually.very happy with it.... those other full coverage ones never work out right. It covers enough of the screen that I'm satisfied.

Yeah I think I'm going to try that one. I'll do the same and use my 2XL as a test subject as it has a large scratch on the glass. Hopefully it'll fill that in and look nice everywhere else.

But the problem is if their glass conforms well enough to the rounded edges to have a good seal. Since it appears that Google made the curves more pronounced then on the Pixel 2, it might make it harder to get a good fit.

My other worry with the Whitestone protector is that you're paying a lot for it, it's a more complicated application process, and you've got only one shot to get it right. If that's my only option for a good protector, I might just skip a screen protector altogether.

The process isn't complicated per-say just more involved. Its the best protector I have seen for a curved screen. You essentially need to get a two pack because you may screw up the first attempt. I have it on my Note 9 and its perfect. Its expensive too but worth the price to protect my phone.

Get the LifeProof Next case if you want your tempered glass screen protectors to be compatible. My screen protectors aren't worthless anymore.
