Which SMS app is everyone using?

She explains some of reasons why she chooses to stay with the stock messaging app.

She is way to excited over a text app. She didn't get me to switch from Textra. There is no one text app that is best, just use the one you like best. The star messages would be nice at times, but not enough for me to switch, and Textra has schedule message I think longer then stock had it. Textra has a pin message feature, that's nice, you can select a person text messages to always be at top, great for when you're in a group messaging conversation. Like I said, the best text apps are what's great for the user.

I don't think she's trying to get anyone to switch. She just explains why she always goes back to stock. I've tried a bunch of different messaging apps and for me the lack of advanced messaging features in other apps is the main reason I go back to stock. I had never seen the reminder integration and that's why I shared the video.

I haven't seen the reminder on others either, it's not something I would care if I had. The starred message would be handy, I'm sending that to Textra to see if that could be incorporated.

Stock Samsung message app works best with my gear watches. Plus I prefer Samsung's apps over Google's

I'm using the Android Messages app as well. My gripe is that I can't shut off the shutter sound for the camera app within the Messages app. You only hear the shutter sound when you expand the camera app. If you leave it minimized, then there's no sound. Does anyone else have this issue?

I was a long time Verizon Messages plus user until I found out about the reminder integration in the stock Samsung app. This one feature alone is what moved me to the stock app and is keeping me there.

I'm also using FB messager for photos, videos and "sent/received/read" until Android/Samsung/Verizon get it together and find a way to implement universal RCS.

I use the Samsung share large files feature for videos and pictures I want sent in original format. Not everyone uses Facebook messenger, and I can send it to any text, email, and more.

I've used that feature from time to time when the receipent isn't one of my FB contacts. I mostly use FB messager for my kids so I know they have seen what I sent.

Most of my photos for work can be low resolution, so MMS works fine for that.

I was a long time Blackberry user before moving to the dark side. I still really miss BBM. I know RCS will become mainstream android at some point, I just wish it would come sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I use MMS most of the time because the resolution isn't that important. I just use the Samsung thing when it matters and for video always.

My problem with the stock app is the Delivered receipts. It shows delivered as a popup and it's not listed on the message you sent like other apps do. So unless you sit watching the screen or if they are in a dead spot you never know if delivered. The bigger issue is if you're using a Smartwatch the delivered receipt goes to your watch so I was constantly clearing delivery messages on my Gear 3.

I had the same issue. I ended up just turning off the Delivery receipt notification, it will drive you crazy.

I tried that but I have some contacts that travel or are in places with bad service so it's nice to know when they receive it. I went back to Textra for now since it showed the delivery notification on the actual message.
