So I know there has been some controversy over bad USB C cables so I am looking for a reliable cable to get to use with this phone not only does it need to be reliable but I need a long cable preferably over 6 feet like the 8-10 range but will settle for 6 if I had to.

Any recommendations?

You need a C to C, or C to A?

Good question. I am not too familiar with the types of cables yet but I believe a C to A..Is that what the charger cable is? If so thats what I need this would be for charging purposes with the adapter that comes with the phone.

C is the oval shaped one, and reversible. A is the rectangular one that takes everyone 3 tries to properly insert into a USB port....lol

Edit: I believe the stock cable will be C to C. However, there are good C to A types. Other than charging, do you need to connect to a PC?

The stock cable will be do short for my charging needs, I will need to connect to a pc as well so that cable I would need to but any size would do for that.

LOL! I thought I was the only one with the three way USB A port! :-)

So, the cable that comes with the phone plugs into the quick charger. That port on the charger is a Type C port?

EDIT: AH says it comes with C to A cable

I'm assuming this port won't fit the type of plug that HTC has used the past several years? That would be the biggest drawback for me with this phone as I have multiple charging stations, depending which room/vehicle I'm in and we have several phones, a tablet, kindle, speaker, backup battery, keyboard, MP3, etc that all charge on the other style. Now, I have to mess around with another type of cable. Not a deal-breaker but a serious hassle and more clutter (just what I was hoping for).

OK. I think the best thing to do is check out Benson Leung and his Amazon reviews for cables. I'm pretty sure he has some A to C cables in there somewhere. Whatever he says is good...look over those.

I'm pretty sure he has a G+ page about it, I just can't find it right now.

If you mean the port on the phone, correct. The opposite side of the cable is USB A, meaning it can plug into other standard chargers, but without the one supplied by HTC, the charging rate will be slower.

Wow...some serious 'ish can happen if you don't have a proper plug! Hopefully HTC will offer them for around 10 bucks. I also plan to get another Quick Charger brick.

How are you seeing prices? I have looked but I think maybe a script is being suppressed on my work laptop. Plus, oddly enough, the description says that the HTC cord is USB 2.0 compliant. I would think they would want to promote 3.1 SuperSpeed?

You would think that they would promote it. Either that or their 3.1 SuperSpeed cable isn't ready to be sold separately. I have no idea.

I'm seeing out of stock. That may be why there is no price. But, to play devil's advocate, why not post the price anyway, but still put out of stock?

Dunno. Accessories typically are high margin items. Seems like you would want to put yourself in a place to sell "authorized" cables for a person buying that unlocked 10. I know some are turned off by needing to get new cables. But my micros have run their course and I need to replace them anyway.

What does everyone think of this??

"In response to a comment on one of is recent cable reviews, Leung — who is employed by Google, one of the companies with a heavy hand in creating the USB Type-C spec — revealed that he would never recommend folks buy the LG G5 or HTC 10. It’s not that he thinks they’re the worst phones on the planet, if that’s what you were thinking.

Instead, he refers to both devices’ use of USB Type-C 3.1 ports as well as Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. The reason this is a problem is because Quick Charge 3.0 increases charging speeds by charging at 9V-12V, but as Leung explained back in November the USB Type-C spec doesn’t support proprietary charging technology above 5V. This is precisely the reason why the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P don’t use Quick Charge despite having the chipsets to do so.

Leung says it’s possible the devices do support fast 15V 3A charging using a proper USB Type-C cable, though your mileage most certainly will vary and it’s on you to take responsibility if something goes wrong when you’re using any cables not supplied by the OEM."

I would think it would require more information. It would cause me pause at this moment. I don't want to be buying stuff just to see it burn up. Not sure how HTC is accomplishing this as the site doesn't mention any 3.1 cable compatibility. I would also be very *ahem'ed* off if my equipment got burnt up.

I don't think much of it. Are we to believe that HTC and LG haven't thoroughly tested Quick Charge? He goes on to say "it’s possible the devices do support fast 15V 3A charging using a proper USB Type-C cable", so why would he make such an irresponsible statement ("never recommend") in the first place?
