Whisper Systems acquisition?

I hadn't seen this discussed here, and don't remember it being mentioned on the Android Central podcast, but what do folks here think about the acquisition of Whisper Systems by Twitter? Many in the infosec community see this as Moxie (the founder of Whisper Systems) "selling out" and a major setback for privacy in the Android world. Curious what the Android community thinks.
