It does appear that they are a go for retail sale, carphone warehouse does apparently have a UK exclusive (no word on any US sales or exclusivity) I think sometime in the beginning of december is when they'll go on sale through CPW.

If it does come to the US, I would imagine the play store would carry it, but I have no idea as of yet for US availability.

While we're talking unsubstantiated rumors and downright fabrications, allow me to toss one out there.

One possible explanation for the reason the Play Store isn't accepting backorders on the Nexus 4... possible retail launch. They may want to save a Nexus-7-like debacle with people backordering units then finding them in the retail stores and shipping back the Play Store one unopened (or in some cases opened).

The UK had Play Store orders and Carphone Warehouse (a UK retailer) is talking an "exclusive" on a white one. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think these things might appear in many of the same outlets in the US that had the Nexus 7. Staples, etc.

So, again completely made up by me and not based on even a hint of a rumor, I'm thinking it might just be possible in the coming weeks to tootle on down to Staples and pick up a white one, and then when the stores are well-stocked with white ones, the black ones will come back in the Play Store again.

And they managed the Nexus 7 at the same price at Staples as it went for in the Play Store, why not the Nexus 4?

Imagine getting these units on the shelves next to the prepaid GSM SIMs. "Would you like service with that?"

Did anyone else order the Nexus 10 at the same time but as a separate order and get a shipping notification for the N10 only not one for the Nexus 4? I wonder if they put them in the same box?

For me, it boils down to the price. If there is a possibility that the white will ever be sold for $350 or at least close to that price range, I can wait and will purchase it. But if it takes the Galaxy Nexus route and is sold for well above the $350 Play store price, I will settle for black. The downside...the fact that I will be waiting for something that may not happen! :'(

its the UK, they had the white galaxy nexus, i don't see why they wouldn't get the white nexus4 in uk. now the fun of finding the white face/rear for us to swap it here in the US.
