Who else is sticking with the 5 vs the 6 6/pro?

For 12-15 years, I got a new phone every year. Skipped the Pixel 4 and got the 5. It does everything I need/want it to do.
The 6 does't seem to be a big upgrade from the 5 - same 8 mb of RAM, same 90hz refresh. The Pro is a step up - but what do I need it for? The 5 still takes better pics than I can compose. Thinking of holding on to the 5 for another year.

Thoughts?

I'm not chasing tech as much as I used to. The Tensor SoC that runs the 6 is a whole new animal. If I were to upgrade, I'll wait until it proves itself. I want to give it at least a few months to see how it does. My Pixel 5 does pretty much everything I need. I certainly don't need the 6 pro. I also prefer the size of the Pixel 5. Don't get me wrong, the 6 and 6 Pro appear to be a really nice flagship cell phone. Nice to see Google finally release a true flagship phone.

Fair points, I have the 5 but am considering the 6 because right now the trade in value on my 5 is 366 and what I'd gain is larger battery, larger screen, better camera, better processor, and 5 years of security updates instead of 3. I am torn though because the 5 does do everything I want with no trouble at all and I'm not sure about the under screen fingerprint scanner.

Only $366? I received $405 trade in value for my pixel 5 from the Google store. Maybe you were purchasing it from a different place?

Valid points and I like your thinking. I like the Pixel 5 finger print reader being on the back. My index finger seems to naturally find it every time I pick it up. My wife is now a big fan of the back finger print reader. Her new 5a got here last Sunday. She never had a phone with one before. The 5a is a really nice phone for the money. She really likes the size of the 5a which is real close to the 6. Now if the 6 had the 6 Pro camera..............

I only forgot speakers! Lol nobody seems to be talking much about the 6 speakers but they gotta be better than the 5. Don't get me wrong it's fine on the 5 but that's it. They leave a lot to be desired

Pixel 5 is a very solid device with great battery life but im upgrading to the 6 pro for google own chip,new cameras .

Sticking with the 5 mainly because of the expense of upgrading annually, though I'm very jealous of the 6's pricing compared to previous iterations. There are a lot of upgrades at a lower price than last years' P5. Also like the rear fps and the size of the P5 (particularly the aspect ration) compared to both the 6's. I'm not a fan of how tall the newer phones are getting.

I'm also sticking with my P5 as well. I just bought it in January of this year and I've yet to have any major problems. Also when I buy a phone I tend to get it's usage out of it yearly. I plan on holding on to this phone for a good 3 to 5 years. The pixel 6 and pros are both bigger than the 5 and I'm not a big fan of huge phones. The P5 is extremely pocket friendly and it fits my 5th jeans pocket so I can have room for other things. If I ever upgrade I probably would just get the sky blue slate version of the P5.

It was tempting to upgrade to a 6, especially since they were offering $500 (Cdn) as a trade-in (Pixel 6 is $800 here). But ultimately I decided against it - the 5 still does everything I need it to well, and I just didn't want a device any much bigger than it. I'll stick with the 5 another year and see what comes next year.

I'm sticking with my Pixel 5 for a while. Figured I'd let the pre-release hoopla die down and see how the end-user reviews shake out. I'm also not keen on spending a mint on yet another new phone as I recently bought an iPhone 13 Pro Max (512GB). I've been primarily an iPhone user but fell in love with a Pixel 3a XL. Picked that up as a backup and because my parents both got Pixels as their first smartphones. I'm always their first (and second, third, fourth) call for any kind of tech support. With 80+ year olds using smartphones I figured I had better be current with the ins and outs of Android. I liked the Pixel 3a XL so much that I bought a Pixel 5 recently, primarily for wireless charging and 5G. There is probably a Sorta Sunny 6 Pro in my future though.

Waiting a bit is never a bad play, especially when you don't *need* a new mobile right away.

I love the fabric cases on the Pixel 5. Didn't think I would like it but it's fantastic.

I totally am! I'm staying with the Pixel 5 for as long as it lives! The Pixel 6 has potential, but I may actually go for the Pixel 7 if and when it comes out.

I have been really tempted to buy a 6 recently, but all of the deals had strings attached, and I really just didn't want to buy a gigantic phone again. Reading about all of the fingerprint sensor issues kind of sealed it for me, so I bought a clean used 5 on eBay. Now I finally get to enjoy the Pixel camera experience, and I wasn't going to get the telephoto anyway, because I hate curved screens! I will say, the in-display speaker is a bit jarring at first, and I don't love it, but I've gotten mostly used to it after a few phone calls.

There are too many issues with the 6/6Pro to temp me to change, especially when my Pixel 5 is working flawlessly. Maybe - just *maybe - I'll take a long look at the Pixel 6a when released. More likely I'll wait and see what the 7/7Pro have to offer though.

I'm definitely sticking with my Pixel 5 until the Fall, or unless something happens to it. I want to see how the S22 performs and the Pixel 6a/7 line before doing anything. I love my Pixel 5!

Definitely! I'm loving it! I'm considering the Pixel 7, S22, or even the OnePlus 10. Not really sure what'll happen -- all I know is that I love my 5 and its size!
