Who got the flawless S9?

Unlocked S9 since Day 1 using on Verizon, flawless for me. Some needed Wi-Fi calling (one of the only caveats I think with unlocked and Verizon) which I didn't and the battery has been superb. IQ Shield screen protector has been perfect and works well with the Spigen Neo-Hybrid Case. Samsung trade-in for $300 for my S7E went very smoothly and I continue to be able to avoid all contact with Verizon other than MyVerizon account which makes life much easier.

First unlocked phone and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I always buy unlocked phones and have been doing so for a while as it means you aren't tethered, sorry manacled, to a network and you can upgrade whenever you want.

Thank you for the link! What (if any) Samsung camera features do you lose? My camera app was so unstable, I couldn't look around much but it seemed the Pro Mode feature was gone.

Long press any of the camera modes listed across the top of the screen in the camera app. It will bring up a page where you can toggle camera features. Your Pro mode might have been accidentally disabled.

Pre-ordered the S9 with T-Mobile and got it a few days before official launch date. I haven't had any issues with the phone, volume, connectivity, camera, nor battery life. No scratches either but I put the Spigen nano liquid on it

How is the nano liquid treating you? I researched it but was kinda skeptical... Went with Whitestone instead and am very pleased with it but the nano liquid did intrigue me.

Probably be better to see who did not get flawless. The premise here implies most have flawed devices. JMO.

I see your point but from what I've been seeing most have been fairly flawless or at least not having issues that would warrant a return or complaining... but it could be that those with issues are just not sharing in this thread.

I haven't noticed any issues with my S9+ except for the camera quality. That's BIG but I don't know if it's a "flaw".

I notice a lot of people say the camera quality is a flaw on the S9(I don't have the plus)... What do you think those flaws are? Honest question... Over saturation or exposure? Imo I really like it and feel it's a top quality camera - I did adjust some settings but even when I just point and shoot pics come out great. I rarely if ever use the flash and do sometimes get blurry pics but not often.

You will lose A LOT of features, but if you just want good pictures, you now have a real choice!

Off the top of my head, you will lose the following:

1. Motion pictures
2. Rear camera: all pics use f1.5 (no f2.4, i.e. shallower depth-of-field)
3. Any photo/video mode other than "Auto".
4. Ability to toggle HDR[+].
5. Switching between the main rear camera and the telephoto lens.

Yikes! That's what I was afraid of. I installed another version and my camera was practically useless it was so laggy. I couldn't find many of the Samsung features. Looks like this version is the same. I think I'll pass for now. BTW, you get your shallower DOF with the f1.5 vs f2.4

But that's the point, don't use any other build other than the one highlighted by Erik in his post. (It is for Snapdragon variants.) Other builds, at best, barely worked for me, but this one has been great.

Re: f-stop. We are both saying the same thing, but the ordering of my statements made it sound like I was saying the opposite 👍

I guess I'm still confused. You DO or DON'T lose the features above (and more)? I'd like to use the Google apk but not if it means losing my manual options and some of the other Samsung camera features.

Two main points:

1. You WILL lose the features I mentioned above (and more) within the installed Google Camera app.
2. Your stock Samsung camera app will remain and is totally unaffected by the installation of Google Camera or any other camera app, for that matter.

I hope that sets your mind at ease :)

So you have two separate camera apps to choose from, the Google camera and Samsung camera (which is not affected at all with the installation of the Google camera)? If that's the case, I'm in! :)

Actually, I have 4 (5 if you count the Samsung stock camera ☺️)

They do not interfere with each other at all.
